Copy Edit on Shudokan Aikido
[edit]I took the liberty of putting a bit of work on your article. It really did need some help conforming to various guidelines both for Wikipedia in general and martial arts in particular. Also style and flow. Anyway - and I only want to make the article better - there are some questions on the talk page which it would help if you could answer. I would like to do the same for the article on Joe Thambu (not sure if it was created by you) but figured I would get some feedback on the Shudokan article first.Peter Rehse (talk) 10:59, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
- Let me know if you need help. If the article on Shudokan can be improved than afterward we can fix the article on Joe Thambu. The article on his uncle was deleted because of copyright violations - someone just copypasted from a web site which is a big no no here. That is a shame since I think he was seriously notable. A bit of advise. Go to the Martial Arts Project page - there are well worked out guidelines but quickly. Excessive use of titles is to be avoided. Frankly I tend to delete all use of sensei, kancho, etc but if it is mentioned once with explanation that would be OK (i.e not Kancho Joe) but Joe is considered Kancho of Shudokan. Name order also has pretty strict rules. Finally - one of the big things I did was trim all the teachers including Draeger and Nariyama. There is a huge difference between taking a few lessons or meeting and the person being your teacher. I know Nariyama well enough to know how particular he is about that for instance. Finally - keep the changes simple and edit over time. That tends to avoid problems. Cheers Peter Rehse (talk) 00:00, 2 July 2012 (UTC)
PS. Please understand the title issue is not lack of respect but more of a response to misuse of titles overall. Also I would not refer to the PDF per say if you are copying from that - copyvio (even if you say there is permission) can cause headache.Peter Rehse (talk) 00:00, 2 July 2012 (UTC)
Your recent edits
[edit]Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:
- Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
- With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.
This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.
Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 01:24, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
