- Wow, take one day off from Wikipedia and they're clambering at you for participation. TheJazzDalek (talk) 10:16, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
Hi JazzDalek
Thanks for all of the help in tiddying up the article it is much more to the point now ! Communication is getting tricky via edits tag for me. I don't have tons of time to commit in research but have asked some others such as their manager to send me info. I am tackling one citation at a time !
For the section on FM 97 Below Zero things get a bit complicated. They were on the air up until September 2009 , then the station was sold and the format changed. The Below Zero show moved to Live 365 and netmusiqe. The shows main website www.belowzerobeats.com shows the links to the now online re-broadcasts of the original FM radio prorgram
http://www.live365.com/stations/clubraven and http://www.netmusique.com/#
On the live365 page if you scroll down to the broadcaster Comments you can see it is essentially www.belowzerobeatscom. If you mouse over the "Archives" button and select "Archived Exclusives" you will see Facel Vega listed amongst all of the other past featured artists, they were featured for one week in January 2009 and the EP was played quite a bit over the months.
So in a sense could this kill 2 birds with one stone ? Citation for being a Below Zero show featured artist or maybe "exclusive" artist and also the Energy 95FM show being rebroadcast on live 365 exposure?
The manager sent me a whole slew of screenshots one of them being the featured artist page from that week. But I would guess screen shots don't count as proof?
Most of the European stations don't log their playlists much longer than a week to a month so I am not sure how to prove they were played . Also Groovera by policy does not post their playlists anywhere yet the band manager told me Groovera approached the band and requested a cd - again with a lot of screen shots and even audio back announcements sent to me.
Anyway I am clunking away on this and trying to get my wikipedia chops sorted out Thanks for any input or help ! Wismer2008 (talk) 19:49, 10 December 2009 (UTC)
- Hello, Wismer2008, and welcome to Wikipedia. I hope you will take my comments (and editing actions) in the spirit in which they are offered: constructive criticism. Part of the problem with enumerating the various airplay the band has received is that it really just points to a lack of notability ("notability" refers to Wikipedia's standards of inclusion, not real-life notability, see WP:NOTE for greater detail). Read any Wikipedia article on a major artist—do you see any mention of which radio stations have played their music? (One example of an exception would be if one particular station was responsible for "breaking" the artist's music into the mainstream consciousness.) Really, the only thing that would help show the band's notability would be if one of their songs [h]as been placed in rotation nationally by any major radio network (WP:NBAND #11). "Rotation" means regular (daily) airplay (also note major radio network, not just a single radio station or syndicated show—they mean like the BBC or Infinity Broadcasting). So really, struggling to find references to back up the claims is basically pointless. I would recommend you expend your energy finding verifiable references from reliable sources that help meet any of the 12 criteria listed at WP:NBAND that would establish the band's notability (and, unfortunately, screenshots from the band's manager are not reliable sources). Note that most of the links in my response point to various Wikipedia guidelines that will be most helpful for your future editing here. A few more things I would suggest you check out: WP:OWN, regarding others' editing of articles you've created, and WP:NPA, as most established editors would take exception to being described as "tyrannical". Best of luck helping out your friend's band, and while I'm happy to correspond with you here, specific comments or questions regarding the article would best be posted on the article's talk page. Take care, TheJazzDalek (talk) 10:41, 11 December 2009 (UTC)
Invitation to discussion
In fairness to obtain differing points of view, I thought you might be interested in participating in the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Music/MUSTARD#Bottom of page box: Contents. For completeness of discussion please make any comments at LINK. Thank You.—Iknow23 (talk) 02:56, 13 December 2009 (UTC)
- At this point, adding my opinion there would be redunant, so I'll just watch from the sidelines. But thanks for the courtesy of letting me know about it. TheJazzDalek (talk) 22:26, 13 December 2009 (UTC)
- You're welcome. Yeah, I told you immediately after I put up the discussion. It was still the proper thing for me to do (inform you).—Iknow23 (talk) 22:54, 13 December 2009 (UTC)
Speedy deletion declined: Music Emissions
Hello TheJazzDalek. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Music Emissions, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The article is not substantially the same as the deleted version. strangeglue.com
Hello. I notice that you have been removing liks to strangeglue.com as spam. What is your objection to this website? It appears to meet the criteria of being a reliable source and doesn't appear to be on the spam blacklist.--Michig (talk) 17:07, 27 December 2009 (UTC)
- The vast majority of links to that site have been added by IPs (and the occasional user) that exclusively (or almost exclusively) add links to Strange Glue. One gets the impression that there has been a concerted effort for Strange Glue to "get up" on Wikipedia. Links added by actual users (and non-repeating IPs) have not been removed. - Ok. Thanks for the clarification. --Michig (talk) 18:37, 27 December 2009 (UTC)
