Just kidding. I didn't really appreciate the vandalism, but the sign did say vandalize, so I guess it's sort of okay. Next time, just update the counter. If you would like to really vandalize, let it all out at User:Basketball110/Vandal. Happy editing, Basketball110 what famous people say21:42, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I have to keep something true there. I already lied said so little on that page, so I could have what is left destroyed. Use the vandal page. I never remove things from there unless they are really bad. Basketball110 what famous people say22:00, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
When I say really bad, I mean forging signatures of others. I've already had a problem with that. Basketball110 what famous people say22:25, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You can do that, but don't forge my signature. If you pretend it's me that's talking, I'll revert it. Also, don't do this. Basketball110 what famous people say23:49, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I encourage you to add something funny to the vandal page, but not with another person sig on it. Cheers, Basketball110 what famous people say23:57, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: WP:RFD

[edit]

I really do not see how nominating those redirects is 'disruptive'. Overzealous, possibly [although I nominated them thinking that unlikely typo redirects that serve no real purpose should be deleted], but not disruptive. I will now most likely withdraw the nominations, as I now see that nominating them did more harm than good and the general consensus is that barely-plausible but still possible redirects should be kept [redirects are cheap after all]. However, I still do not agree with the behaviour being disruptive. What exactly have I disrupted? Thanks in advance. RichardΩ612 Ɣ |ɸ 15:06, May 13, 2008 (UTC)

See WP:BLP. Any sort of suspect info must be removed until proven reliable. There is no need for a specific consensus to remove in each case. There is a general consensus to remove in all cases. At this point there is no evidence that the info from NNDB is reliable. We don't know where they found it. We don't know who copiled the NNDB page. We don't know what sort of fact checking, if any, has been done by NNDB, or what their editorial policy is. Please address those points to help advance the discussion. Cannabis Culture & Cost

[edit]

Eleven years ago The Ottawa Citizen published four consecutive Editorials in four days calling for the legalization of Cannabis. Calling the Editor to commend him for such bold action, it was suggested an article be submitted for payment if published on the Op-Ed page. On submission, the Editor said, "Now we're going to have to shit or get of the pot."

It was published as a Letter To The Editor with the heart and guts edited out so that no reader would have a clear perspective or understanding of the issue. If you're interested, you can read the article in the discussion here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ray_Joseph_Cormier and maybe comment on the images in the article. [edit]

I'm a little flummoxed at why I wasn't notified about the thread when this got brought up almost a year and a half after the edit I made. I was simply cleaning up the article so that it used citations instead of just plain external links. I was not "endorsing" the edit just by Wikignoming and adding ref tags around the link. Was the information incorrect? You probably know more than I do about this. In my defense though, I must add that this origin speculation has been covered by other sources: [1], [2], [3], [4]. I am on constant lookout for patent nonsense, but ultimately I am hampered by my own knowledge or lack of thereof when it comes to spotting factual error. I apologize if it seemed like I was endorsing that edit, but that is just my own limitation. bibliomaniac15 23:06, 26 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of Aiva

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Aiva requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Rklear (talk) 14:56, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:LiveAtLast.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:LiveAtLast.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:30, 11 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. AfD nomination of Smosh

[edit]

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Smosh. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Smosh (4th nomination). Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:41, 24 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello JayKeaton! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 315 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

  1. Iris Rainer Dart - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
  2. Steve Sires - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

File source problem with File:Ansoniahotel.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Ansoniahotel.gif. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 03:12, 28 February 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. FASTILYsock(TALK) 03:12, 28 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Steve Sires has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

I don't think an impersonator is notable enough for an article, unless significant coverage can be found in reliable sources.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Jackinworld requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.) or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this: which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. PorkHeart (talk) 04:58, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Martin Duffy.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Martin Duffy.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 07:47, 9 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
