Giving yourself barnstars [1] is frowned upon on Wikipedia. Why don't you delete it and wait for others to praise you instead? The same goes for your boasting on your user page. Everyone can see that your account is 1 day old with 109 edits, and that you haven't made "countless amounts of edits to existing articles". Again, persevere in editing here, give yourself some time to learn the ropes and understand the policies and practices of the place, edit carefully and productively, and other editors will reward you with compliments, which will feel a heck of a lot better than improperly blowing your own horn. Beyond My Ken (talk) 07:22, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Please do not remove "Categories for discussion" templates from category pages. Doing so will have no effect on the discussion which is underway, and will only prevent people from seeing that it is occurring. Removing the template is not allowed until the discussion is completed. Beyond My Ken (talk) 08:15, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You do understand, don't you, that being a volcanologist, an astronomer, or a geoscientist is not the same thing as having an interest in those subjects. Claiming on your user page to be a volcanologist, astronomer, or geoscientist is claiming to do those things professionally, which it is quite clear you do not do. I would recommend that you clean up your user page and change those claims to being interested in those subjects. Beyond My Ken (talk) 08:20, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Trails

[edit]

Sometimes references about hiking or cycling trails that serve an extinct volcano can be used to establish notability of the mountain. I would encourage you to search for reliable sources about relevant trails and buildings whenever you create an article about a volcano. Also, identifying a volcano as inactive or extinct is a good idea because otherwise some readers would assume that any mountain identified as a volcano is an active one. I'm done

[edit]

I'm just done. Done with it all. I'm not in the mood to get all of this feedback. So bye, I'm not doing any more edits or articles. I don't deserve the Barnstar. So really, bye! User:TheEarlyVolcanologist2023

I see your retirement lasted less than 24 hours. Don't think of the feedback you're getting as being criticism, think of it as simply helping you to become a better Wikipedian. Beyond My Ken (talk) 23:25, 14 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm very sorry about that! I shouldn't have done that! It's truly a good thing that I'm being told corrections and all of that stuff. I guess I shouldn't view it in a bad view! TheEarlyVolcanologist2023 (talk) 21:37, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Categorization on Wikipedia is a complex subject. You're always much better off looking around for an existing category rather than starting a new one, chances are that you will find an applicable one. Beyond My Ken (talk) 04:43, 18 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Removing Categories: Volcanoes of the United States

[edit]

Hello there,

Ive noticed something odd in of the Trans-Pecos Volcanic Field article i have started, In which it stated that you reverted Special:Diff/1242126997, to not present the category of Category:Volcanoes of the United States . I am a little perplexed by this edit as this field is located in the United States. Upon Looking into your contribution history, you’ve done this with many other article with US volcanoes, https://w.wiki/B2n7. May i ask why?

Thank you in Advance Blakedes2 (talk) 04:41, 28 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your creations

[edit]

I appreciate your enthusiasm, but creating so many things that need to be nominated for deletion is wasting both your time and the time of the Wikipedia community. I was almost half-tempted to delete the above categories per ignore all rules; that's how ridiculous they are compared to the rest of the site's category scheme. Perhaps you should make your above retirement, which was very diva-like, more of a long-term thing. Graham87 (talk) 02:53, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I agree. Not only has he created multiple articles in violation with WP:RS, He has edited articles in the past by removing SubCats with no explanation. See here- https://w.wiki/B2n7. I have questioned him about this behavior earlier in the User Talk, and he has still yet to respond. Tbh, I don’t think he’s here to build a wikipedia per WP:CNH.
