Guideline and policy news

  • An RfC has been closed with the consensus that train stations are not inherently notable.

Technical news

  • Tech tip: When revision-deleting on desktop, hold ⇧ Shift between clicking two checkboxes to select every box in that range.

  • The arbitration case request Jonathunder has been automatically closed after a 6 month suspension of the case.

Miscellaneous

  • The new pages patrol (NPP) team has prepared an appeal to the Wikimedia Foundation (WMF) for assistance with addressing Page Curation bugs and requested features. You are encouraged to read the open letter before it is sent, and if you support it, consider signing it. It is not a discussion, just a signature will suffice.
  • Voting for candidates for the Wikimedia Board of Trustees is open until 6 September.

Board of Trustees election

Thank you for supporting the NPP initiative to improve WMF support of the Page Curation tools. Another way you can help is by voting in the Board of Trustees election. The next Board composition might be giving attention to software development. The election closes on 6 September at 23:59 UTC. View candidate statement videos and Vote Here. @MB: I wasn't aware that this was a separate election from the 16 thru 30 August one, so thanks for notifying me. I'll go and check out the candidates, and hopefully get my vote in before the deadline. Never mind, I have already voted in this one. Sorry. Regards, User:TheDragonFire300. Hello, the reason of using hatnote is to help disambiguating similar names but different topics (which is similar to the aim of WP:D). There are disambiguation pages within Wikipedia namespace (see Category:Wikipedia disambiguation pages). As a result, I believe that the same rules apply for WP:HAT. Those hatnotes does not help disambiguating similar topics, one of each even meets WP:REDHAT. 132.234.229.10 (talk) 08:20, 8 September 2022 (UTC)

Thank you. I take it that you are concerned that the hatnotes do not have navigational aid, and indeed, they do not. However, the page is clearly disclaimed as a humourous one, and I believe that the addition of the fake hatnotes (perhaps it could be made not using the template to avoid tripping categories up) does add to the overall humour of the article. Besides in project space on such humourous pages, it is unlikely that any editor will need assistance with navigation as traditional hatnotes fulfil. Thus, I would believe that the hatnotes removed should be exempt from this policy. Do you agree with this? Regards, User:TheDragonFire300. (Contact me | Contributions). 08:38, 8 September 2022 (UTC)
