Warning

[edit]

I should block you for this; you were specifically told not to. I am trying very hard to extend good faith, but I find it untenable now. Please stop. If you even think an edit might be a problem, don't make it or ask someone. ÷seresin 05:37, 7 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I just thought it was inappropriate language. When was I told not to? You should not block me because it changed an offensive word to a clean one. Clerkenwell TALK PAGE! 05:40, 7 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I warned you here [1]. Please stop. As per WP:CENSORED, wikipedia is not censored. Dayewalker (talk) 05:43, 7 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

She said I could edit it! Clerkenwell TALK PAGE! 05:45, 7 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You're really missing the point. You're on thin ice. Stop looking for loopholes. Trolling userpages instead of editing articles is going to get your indef block reinstated.--Chaser (talk) 05:47, 7 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I AM NOT TROLLING. Grr. Clerkenwell TALK PAGE! 05:49, 7 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you have something to talk to her about, feel free to discuss that on her page. However, you can't edit other people's comments. That's considered very rude, and will lead to another block. That conversation is fine where it is, please don't edit other people's comments. Good luck! Dayewalker (talk) 05:50, 7 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I am not looking for loopholes. She herself allowed anyone to edit her page, as long as it was not vandalism. I changed a word from a slang word to a real word. Is that trolling? Clerkenwell TALK PAGE! 05:51, 7 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ugh, fine. In good faith I will not change the word, even though it was in good faith in the first place. Clerkenwell TALK PAGE! 05:52, 7 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, Is it ok to correct spelling, grammar, etc? Clerkenwell TALK PAGE! 05:54, 7 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Side note: Can someone unlock my userpage? Clerkenwell TALK PAGE! 05:53, 7 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

(EC) Please stop arguing about this minor point. You're coming off an indef block, and now you're steadfastly arguing about your right to do something that's been explained to you several times as improper. No, as per WP:TALK, you can't edit comments on another user's talk page. If you do it again, chances are you'll be blocked again, so please don't. If you have any questions about editing wikipedia, feel free to ask them and I'll try my best to help you, but this is a rather simple matter here and doesn't deserve a long discussion. Dayewalker (talk) 05:55, 7 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No, I said I would NOT edit her page. Sorry If I was unclear. I understood it was rude to edit others pages, the above comment by tou was unecessary. Clerkenwell TALK PAGE! 05:58, 7 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

you were told 2 days before this edit not to do this: [2].--Crossmr (talk) 05:59, 7 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think we are done here. :) Clerkenwell TALK PAGE! 06:03, 7 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wow. I guess the other warnings didn't quite sink in. One last time: Do not edit comments made by other users, even if you're only correcting spelling. Just don't do it. Not even on project pages. Got it? —DoRD (talk) 20:26, 7 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The spelling correction was Good Faith.

I understood not to edit them, but I thought it was ok to fix spelling mistakes! Sorry. Clerkenwell TALK PAGE! 20:29, 7 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I did AGF, otherwise I would have hit another button before writing here. Along with the good advice from Dayewalker below, I'll add a little rule of thumb: If you have any doubt whatsoever about an edit you're about to make, don't do it, or ask for advice first. I imagine that you feel like you're on a very short leash right now, but most of us are simply trying to help you help yourself.
As for spell-checking, except for switching the variety of English, feel free to correct any spelling errors you find in articles. —DoRD (talk) 21:16, 7 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please Stop Editing Other People's Comments

[edit]

I understand with this edit [3], you're trying to fix someone's spelling, but please don't. As I told you above, it's considered rude to change another editor's comments, even if you're trying to correct them on something. Just let it go, and don't worry about the comments of other editors on talk pages. There are millions of articles that could use a good eye like yours to fix their spelling and grammar, feel free to have a look at some of those. There's a button on the top left menu marker "random article," sometimes when I'm looking for a place to start, I just click on that and see what comes up. There's lots of things that can be done to help. Good luck! Dayewalker (talk) 20:30, 7 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I won't correct peoples spelling anymore. Clerkenwell TALK PAGE! 20:31, 7 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Advice

[edit]

I'd really advise you to read my advice to you at ANI, you're really on thin ice as it is and you're recent actions might cause it too break.--SKATER Speak. 01:32, 8 April 2010

Can I change that "too" into a "to"? I won't do it without your permission. Clerkenwell TALK PAGE! 01:39, 8 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I did it for you My Fuhrer. You're completely missing the point by the way, but I'm done trying. --SKATER Speak. 01:42, 8 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, don't call me a Nazi! Clerkenwell TALK PAGE! 01:43, 8 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Then explain why you care so much about common typos outside of article space. If you honestly used those eyes of yours in them you'd probably fix the article clean. --SKATER Speak. 01:48, 8 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

People tend to care more in the articles than the userspace. that is why there are more and easier to catch errors here, but like I said, I am no longer going to fix them because it is against policy. Clerkenwell TALK PAGE! 01:52, 8 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Good, I've given you my advice you seem to know what you have to avoid doing to be blocked now make the most of it.--SKATER Speak. 01:58, 8 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
A couple of thoughts...
@SKATER: Relax, and please try not to prove our resident lawyer's law to be true. You know, I hate to try to figure out people judging by their user pages and userboxen, but my son plays some of those games... And, as the parent of a 14-year-old boy, I have to admit that I don't remember being as obnoxious as he is when I was that age, but I undoubtedly was.
@TCW: Shhh. Really. As I recently told my son, "Just say 'Okay.' Don't argue. You're not going to win." Yeah, I know. It sucks. You know, most of us old farts have at least a vague recollection of teenage-hood being sucky, but we might have learned a thing or two since then. Please at least try to take our advice.
@Both: Yes, I know I've made some assumptions that may not be correct, but I bet they're close. —DoRD (talk) 02:53, 8 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Side note: Why do people say userboxen instead of userboxes? Clerkenwell TALK PAGE! 02:59, 8 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I can tell, it's to let others know you're hip to the ways of the wiki and know what the cool plural forms are for various insider terminology. It's either a plural noun form used in some specific language or language family, or it's in no language family at all and that's the joke you don't get. Hey, no-one ever said this site is not self-contradictory. ;) Franamax (talk) 03:48, 8 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

-en is the usual plural suffix in German, and using it on English words was a running joke in 20th-century hacker culture. See here (towards the end) and here. 66.127.52.47 (talk) 07:20, 9 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Edit Summary

[edit]

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. When you make a change to an article, please provide an edit summary for your edits. Doing so helps everyone to understand the intention of your edit. It is also helpful to users reading the edit history of the page. Thank you. Stillwaterising (talk) 16:28, 8 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please assume good faith - I know it is a long, frustrating discussion but article talk pages are not a suitable location for discussing the conduct of users. Please have a look at dispute resolution if you really feel that his behaviour is inappropriate, or you can discuss it on user talk pages with other editors. Yes. You are clearly unaware of policies like WP:OR. Controversial articles like those are not ones to start with - I strongly suggest you walk away. Hipocrite (talk) 02:53, 12 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I knew the no original research rule, but I did not know interviews were original research. I will heed your suggestion. Thank you.

Would you mind photographing the Comair headquarters? The article on Comair needs a photo of the corporate headquarters.

Do you have a driver's license now? Comair is shutting down on September 29, 2012, so I would like for someone to photograph both 77 Comair Boulevard, and the building at 82 Comair Boulevard, both in Erlanger, KY, at Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky Regional Airport ASAP. Thanks, WhisperToMe (talk) 04:36, 28 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Oh hey, I haven't been logged in to Wikipedia for a long time now, haha. Yes, I have a license and a car, (2000 Accord Coupe, sweet ride) but I live off exit 19 way up north of downtown, and I don't think my parents would let me drive that far, and I can't go under their noses with a clear conscience.

Theclerkswell (talk) 00:05, 30 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Well, an idea would be to make it as part of a weekend trip, perhaps? Maybe there is a tourist attraction your parents or friends would want to see in Boone County or Kenton County, and say "I'll take you there - But would it be okay if you let me swing by the airport to take some photos?" - If your parents or friends like airplanes you could say "Let's take some photos of some planes at the airport" 0 But another user had also offered to take photos of the Comair buildings, so if you'd like, we could wait and see if/when the photos appear WhisperToMe (talk) 13:53, 30 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
User:Justin W Smith got 77 Comair Boulevard, but 82 Comair Boulevard hasn't been photographed yet. WhisperToMe (talk) 13:13, 4 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
