RE; A potential solution to the "doesn't meet WP:ATHLETE" issue
Yes I agree that is a great solution to this issue. I've actually been considering something like that, but I've just not gotten around to it yet. But I'm now going to get right on it ASAP. Thanks, - Allied45 (talk) 03:56, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
Removal of Link to 'Rogers Results'
"I still think it doesn't really belong, as I think that any site needs time to prove it's kept up to date and is useful, especially those on free servers. Footystats has this track record and reputation."
The site is actually endorsed and linked by Footystats.
"Michael Rogers was a welcome introduction to the pages of Footystats last season.
Lots of the time he found new ways to describe and display statistics of the AFL competition and the new friendship was easy to recognise.
It's time to move on and Michael has found a place of his own where he can range much wider than he could in the confines of Footystats.
Thank goodness Michael will still be a regular visitor to our pages in 2009.
In the meantime, have a good look at his new spread. I'm sure you will find it a comfortable site which you will return to often ...
Michael Rogers – Database Extra – more
You will find the link every day in Footystats."
"BTW, I just tried to find your site using google - and couldn't. Not a good sign."
The site has only been online for 6 days. It has been verified by Google but is yet to be indexed.
Will you reconsider your decision to remove the link to it? Mjrogers50 (talk) 07:32, 20 January 2009 (UTC)
Luke Boyd
The reason I deleted the article was because it didn't mention anything about the press attention, just that he qualified as a bantamweight, which isn't of itself particularly notable (in my current understanding of the guidelines, anyway).
The contents as I saw it were:
Luke Boyd is an Australian amateur boxer who qualified for the 2008 Olympics at bantamweight.
Pressure fighter Boyd from City of Hawkesbury in New South Wales qualified by winning the Oceanian Games 2008.
I'd say just feel free to recreate the article. As it stands not much was lost from the deletion. Mo0[talk] 14:11, 20 January 2009 (UTC)
Re: Placekick and Placekicker
Thank you for notifying me of that article: I was not aware of its existence. However, that article was in my sandbox, so it would be nice if you didn't change it next time. Thanks for telling me though, I will change the article to a redirect to placekicker, BluWare
Brad Smith
Thanks for adding the East Freo information into the infobox. I wasn't sure if his coaching stint ended in 1980 so decided just to leave it out. Pretty harsh to sack a premiership coach after one bad season!. Jevansen (talk) 12:24, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
- I'll double check it from my pile of Football Registers after the cricket finishes. Now, are you stalking my edits, do have every AFL related disamb page on your watchlist, or was it a freak coincidence that you made this page today? The-Pope (talk) 12:39, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
- Over the last few days I've been making articles for redlinked players who appeared in VFL Grand Finals. I decided to do a page for Smith (1974 GF) but wasn't sure how to disambiguate him so I put his name into the wiki search engine to check if any other footballers shared his name. I was pleased to see that someone had already sorted all that out .. now I know it was you! So don't worry, I'm not stalking you. I do have your userpage bookmarked though ;) Jevansen (talk) 06:42, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
Do you know if Robert Harvey and Brent Harvey the footballers are cousins? It was added to RH's page, but deleted recently by an IP without speculation. I am wondering if there are more things to be added to Harvey family. YellowMonkey (click here to vote for world cycling's #1 model!) 05:42, 11 February 2009 (UTC)

RE: my supposed vandalism
I googled him got about 1000 entries, thought it wasn't very notable, I made a mistake, but it wasn't intentional vandalism. It only looks that way because it was my first edit, but I used to edited wikipedia alot. thanks for WP:AGF Cloudpersona (talk) 15:27, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
- I reserve the right to limit my assumption of good faith for established editors or new editors doing "normal" editing. New editors doing advanced edits such as prods smell of sockpuppetry, WP:SPAs or banned user recreations. Next time either stick to topics you are familiar with or READ THE ARTICLE before you rely on google to determine notability - they guy's had a book written about him as well as his many awards. The-Pope (talk) 15:42, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
- Wow, very angry aren't we, I admitted I was wrong, no need to rub my face in it. I guess you could say I am a sockpuppet, but only because I can't remember the password on my old account and didn't put an email address on it. Cloudpersona (talk) 15:55, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

No problem. We all make mistakes from time to time (probably most of the time, in my case!). All the best. --Orrelly Man (talk) 04:24, 20 June 2009 (UTC)
Australian Football is not a neologism
Try telling that to the hundreds of clubs which use AFC (ie "Australian Football Club") as their official extension which includes the Brisbane Lions Australian Football Club (BLAFC). Most of these clubs have been around for over half a century. --Rulesfan (talk) 07:08, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
- I'd dispute the half a century claim - I'd bet most would be less than 20 years (ie post the AFL name change). (and check out the title bar at http://www.lions.com.au, no "Australian" to see. A google search of rules football club also finds over 40,000 hits - less than the 140,000 for the "Australian football club", but you with numbers that big you can't tell which one is more widespread - both are very widespread. Most would also be in the "non-heartland" areas - see the note at List of Australian rules football clubs in Australia. I stand by my personal history of in 30 years of being a footy fan, I don't think I've ever called it Australian football, but call it Aussie Rules or footy all the time. Personally I'm not going to worry about the name and instead I'm going to spend my time aiming to get the % of WP:AFL articles needing cleanup to under 10%.The-Pope (talk) 11:39, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

Hey Pope, Thanks for your cleanup on the Jordan Jones article. It's good to have another user look at it and fix things up, especially since I created it without any help. Feel free to make any changes you feel are necessary. I had the Google Maps link up, simply because I know that there's a photo of his best-and-fairest winning portrait on the clubroom walls, but obviously there was no reference to that on the net, so I just put a geographical location of where the clubrooms are. Reply on my talk page. Gibbsyspin 01:07, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
Yeah the article in The West really tweaked my curiousity... particularly when I found there was nothing on Wikipedia - feel free to make any changes as I didn't have time to research any of Steve Errington's input. Dan arndt (talk) 01:27, 8 September 2009 (UTC)
Fair enough, just delete it per the rules.-- XCheese360 1336.999992 13:14, 8 September 2009 (UTC)
Hey mate, Nick Davis
Hey mate I saw you did a fair bit on Nick Davis and recently his been to America to try out for the NFL and you could edit that if you want, I'm more into Australian Football League the AFL not the NFL so I'm not going to go too much into that so if you want it's a little heads up on it.

AFL Debuts
Heya. I started with the 2004 & 2005 debuts tryng to tabulate them. Your suggested table looks good although there may too much information available (although it depends how it look like completed).
While I can't see myself creating pages for every season's debutants, I'll probably do the odd one here and there, particulalrly for key seasons. --Roisterer (talk) 03:15, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

For this edit to the aggravated creator of many reverted edits and deleted pages. You could've simply auto-tagged the page and left it at that (and no one would've counted it against you). No one asked you to go the extra mile in the hope that that user may become a productive editor, but you did it anyway. Wikipedia can use more people like you. Veale
I added the userfied version at User:The-Pope/Lochlan Veale so you can used it if you want to make the entry on the Veale Deal more then just a redirect should the deal itself is notable enough for an article. JForget 15:34, 10 October 2009 (UTC)

Yeah
Its a bleeding shame there are soo many government agencies that are not blue links - so any stab in the dark with a blunt football is better than a stab into wikipedia with no mention :) SatuSuro 07:30, 12 December 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for that - a damned good explanation and reassuring - the new article page looks sick as it is :( SatuSuro 05:45, 19 December 2009 (UTC)
