thank you stromy56! it is quite technical before you start to know all the details but we will learn hopefully fast and get help from experts. do you know how to link from english language articles to articles in bahasa? we followed the instructions on Wikipedia:interwiki link but it did not work well. so now on one article on Prabowo_Subianto we are blocked and can not edit it :-( Thamrin2 (talk) 10:57, 24 February 2012 (UTC)
Interwiki links fixed, but block by Tnxman307 still there
thanks to FrescoBot's correction of our incorrect link syntax in the article Indonesian presidential election, 2014, we now figured out how to link to non-english wiki articles. example: when linking to articles in Bahasa begin with the country code for Indonesia [[:id: type-your-text, separate with the | character and repeat-the-text and close as usual, then it will link correctly. we used another access point with another ip address in the building and were able to continue editing. we wrote to Tnxman307 to unblock us but unfortunately did not get an answer. terima kasih Thamrin2 (talk) 09:50, 27 February 2012 (UTC)

Request reason:
The claim that the ip address I use is an open proxy is wrong. It is a very legitimate ip address provided by varnion.com. The User Tnxman307 keeps blocking our ip addresses 111.68.121.0/24 from editing articles. My emails to and comments in the talk page of Tnxman307 remain unanswered (see below) I recently learned from my fellow student Antasari (who is back in Hong Kong) that Tnxman307 has his and my user name listed on this page (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Thekohser&diff=prev&oldid=477906639) accusing us of being the same user and linked to some conspiracy. This is a false claim and filled with misleading statements. Again, the ip address I use in Jakarta belongs to Varnion.com and it is not a proxy. Why not simply ask me or my ISP before accusing us to be part of some conspiracy or whatever they are writing about on this page. The right thing for Tnxman307 would have been to reply to my email and not drag me into whatever personal issues he might have with other users. The wikipedia platform for all of us as long as we abide by the rules and the spirit, regardless where in the world we may be located. It was shocking to discover that some users might appear to be above the rules and the spirit of wikipedia.
I also noticed that a user by the name Silverseren, who appears to have started this investigative article, coincidentally started to edit the article of one of our potential presidential candidates of 2014 (Aburizal Bakrie) in February when he requested that our ip be blocked. Funny thing is that Silverseren never bothered to work on any other candidate for the 2014 race. Silverseren's edits are clearly biased against this one candidate, and anyone doing his or her research will find that media coverage will always have both good and bad to say about any candidate, just like the media coverage in the USA.
2012/2/24 Thamrin2 wrote to tnxman307: hello wikepedia, as part of our studies program we were assigned to contribute on the wikepedia for the 2014 presidential elections in our country. when we tried to edit the article on prabowo subianto in english this message appears: "You are currently unable to edit pages on Wikipedia. You can still read pages, but you cannot edit, move, or create them. The IP address that you are currently using has been blocked because it is believed to be an open proxy. .." we have been working on another candidate for the elections in the past weeks and had no problem there. can you tell us how we can continue contribute? we would like to add to the Indonesian_presidential_election,_2014 other potential candidates. what shall we do? the only problem we have before was the links to the indonesian articles like name. but it did not work well is that the reason we are blocked? so sorry. salam from jakarta -- This e-mail was sent by user "Thamrin2" on the English Wikipedia to user "Tnxman307". we emailed you 9 days ago and have no heard back from you. we checked with our internet company Varnion, Jakarta and the manager said that the connection we are using is not a proxy connection. You can contact them http://www.varnion.com/. we ask you again kindly to be fair to us since we are making contributions to improving articles about indonesian politics in english. although we are may not as experience as you we have not made any bad edits that should keep us from continuing the internet connection on our floor.

Decline reason:
I've just taken a look at the IP addresses you use, and this is what I've found (as much as I can tell you according to our policies):
- One of the IP addresses you've used recently does locate to your area. Unfortunately, it does have a number of open ports - connections which can be used to establish a proxy connection through your IP address. In attempting to connect to one of these ports, it looks as though this particular IP address is being used by a company that specifically offers these services.
- Another IP address you're using does not have any open ports that I can find, however, it is locating to a completely different part of the world than you say you're from. Unless you're currently traveling, this tells me that you're using some sort of proxy service, as you would normally not be able to access this IP address otherwise.
On Wikipedia, open proxy services have frequently been abused by vandals and those who use multiple accounts to evade blocks (sockpuppeteers). For security reason, we block these services on sight, as well any IP address that appears that it could be reasonably used as one (such as webhosting services). If you are using some sort of web accelerator, you may wish to disable it. If you do contact your ISP again, then you should let them know that the IP address you've recently used is configured in such a way that someone could gain access to it from another location.
I assure you that these blocks are not being directed at you personally; unfortunately we cannot lift them at this time due to the security concerns. If your ISP is unable to resolve this issue, we can look into granting you an exception to these blocks, but these exceptions are only granted in very rare cases and only when absolutely necessary. Thamrin2 (talk) 13:09, 30 June 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you Hersfold for your prompt review of the blocked IP appeal and especially for taking the time to explain the problem from your perspective. Yes I did travel a few times this year, but I always brought my laptop with me. Is there a feature (token or cookie) where Wikipedia could identify me as one and the same user rather than a sockpuppy? Since the block started in late February, it made it not only hard but a very tiring ordeal to contribute anything to articles in Wikipedia.
- Indonesia is not as fortunate as some of the more developed countries where many have internet access at their family's home and using HP access here is very unreliable for editing a webpage since the signal is not stable. I will of course contact our ISP again and pass on your concern that the IP address they assign to us is configured in such a way that someone could gain access to it from another location. Is there a technical document Wikipedia offers that could be shared with the ISP, so they know what exactly to do?
- On this special day the USA celebrates its independence, my fellow students and I can only hope you will judge us by our contributions and not by IP addresses, over which we have no control when accessing your Wikipedia website on campus or the library. We are not IT experts but law students in a very young democracy. Terima kasih, Thamrin2 (talk) 07:43, 4 July 2012 (UTC)
University projects for Indonesia's 2014 presidential elections
I checked Wikipedia:School and university projects, but I couldn't find any current university or school projects related to the 2014 Indonesia elections. Which project are you connected with? -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 16:22, 30 June 2012 (UTC)
- Hi FisherQueen. Our class was given the option to choose a project from a choice of covering the up and coming presidential elections either via blog contributions (e.g. WordPress), encyclopedia (e.g. Wikipedia) or social media sites (e.g. FaceBook) in Bahasa or English. I chose English. Are you able to help us set up and get included in an official Wikipedia university project? What does it require? Unfortunately the Wikipedia:School and university projects does not list Indonesia as one of the countries (yet). Please advise if we can get some help. Thamrin2 (talk) 08:22, 4 July 2012 (UTC)
Sockpuppetry case
[edit]Your name has been mentioned in connection with a sockpuppetry case. Please refer to Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Thekohser for evidence. Request for unblocking
[edit]Thamrin2 (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))
Request reason:
I respectfully request that my account and the IP address I used to access the Internet (118.98.16.4) be unblocked by an impartial administrator. The block that was imposed on my account is in fact not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia. I have been an editor in good standing, with the interests of Wikipedia at heart, to be a comprehensive and neutral reference. I believe the reason the block was imposed, was for another Wikipedia user to gain leverage in editing content about an Indonesian politician. I know that this may sound alarming, but if you look at my contribution history, I have been editing quite fairly about numerous Indonesian politicians, while the other editor with no other interest in Indonesian politics has exclusively made edits – no less with a negative bias – to a solitary Indonesian politician's biography, Aburizal Bakrie, because he suspects that edits made to that article are from paid editors. I am not a paid editor. Silver seren has pushed for an title=Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Thekohser&diff=prev&oldid=535246869 investigation into my account, falsely claiming that I am a paid editor from the United States. So, because his sockpuppet investigation proved him wrong (my home is in Indonesia), User:DeltaQuad elected to block my account anyway, on a pretense that I am using an IP address used for open proxies. I am using a Telkom Indonesia home Internet access point. Telkom Indonesia is a company whose history dates back more than 150 years. It is alarming that DeltaQuad would accuse me and our largest phone company in our country for using "open proxy". I will inform Telkom Indonesia and inform them that a Wikipedia CheckUser claims that their service is being used for open proxy activity that can be grounds for blocking other customers from use of Wikipedia. When looking who this CheckUser is, I discovered that DeltaQuad made a similar mistake recently in handling an investigation, for which he later [http:// en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Int21h&diff=prev&oldid=533840212 apologized]. He has clearly made another mistake with me and with my Internet service provider. I would like to see my block reversed, because I am not damaging or disrupting Wikipedia. False accusations have been used to impose the block, based on the mistaken conclusion of a CheckUser. Thamrin2 (talk) 00:35, 7 March 2013 (UTC)

Your account itself is blocked (though that IP is blocked as well). Please wait six months without sockpuppetry before making another unblock request, per our standard offer. Further unblock requests before then may result in removal of your ability to edit this page. King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 09:16, 7 March 2013 (UTC)
