Update: No thanks. In the future, you may want to leave these messages on the bot owner's account (Thadius856) instead of the bot's page, as it stops all processes automatically when the bot receives new messages. thadius856talk|airports|neutrality 19:40, 4 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WP:Biography on Actuary

[edit]

Being that the article is about an occupation and not a person, I am removing the template. -- Avi 19:30, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Update: Much thanks. The subcats of Category:People by occupation are fairly dirty, littered with miscategorized articles. I've gone through my list with a fine tooth comb and taken out more than I can count, though apparently one slipped through. Thanks! :) thadius856talk|airports|neutrality 19:31, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There are a bunch of others, like Advocate, please clean it up when you are done. Thanks. -- Avi 19:36, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Update: I've cleaned them up. In the future, please leave comments on my talk page, not the bot's. Posting comments automatically stops all processes dead in their tracks... unless you need the bot to stop what its working on immediately (in case of a catastrophic failure). It's much easier for me to respond to them there, as I can use my main account. Thadius856AWB 04:51, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Ritual of the Calling of an Engineer

[edit]

I notice that you placed a Wikiproject: books template on the talk page for The Ritual of the Calling of an Engineer. This is not a book; it's a ceremony practised by some Canadian engineers. -Dhodges 03:42, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Update: I thought for sure it was, since I recognized it as being assosciated with Kipling. Thanks for removing it. In the future, please leave messages on my talk page instead of here. :) Thadius856AWB 04:52, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WPBiography

[edit]

Thadius, it appears you've been busy in the biography section posting templates for review. However you've neglected to follow through and create talk pages for any of your listings, so when a user clicks on your 'click here' all they see is 'no such page exists, you can create one...' MajorRogers 22:12, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Update: Yes, I have been busy tagging biography articles with the {{WPBiography}} banner. However, for the life of me, I can't figure out what you're referring to. Do you mean the comments page for leaving notes on the assessment an article is given? If so, then thats up to the person assessing the article, as I'm simply adding the banners and nothing else. I don't know what you mean that I've "neglected to follow through and create talk pages for any of [my] listings", as the banners can only be placed on talk pages to begin with. Am I missing something? thadius856talk|airports|neutrality 22:22, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, those are the pages he means. — SMcCandlish [talk] [contrib] 23:06, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Can you please except any pool, billiards, snooker articles from your bot run? You are WPBiography-tagging them in a very long-form way that isn't necessary and WP:CUE already has a default format for these for our articles as they intersect with WP:WPBIO, namely:
{{WPBiography|sports-work-group=yes|needs-photo=yes|living=yes|class=Stub|priority=Low}}
(Obviously without living=yes if not living, with class=Start if not a stub, and priority=Med in a few cases). I'm just going to have to replace all of the bot-added ones in these articles anyway, and it is easier to find the articles that need these tags if they don't already have one needing replacement. Thanks.  :-) — SMcCandlish [talk] [contrib] 23:06, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Automated message to bot owners

[edit]

As a result of discussion on the village pump and mailing list, bots are now allowed to edit up to 15 times per minute. The following is the new text regarding bot edit rates from Wikipedia:Bot Policy:

Until new bots are accepted they should wait 30-60 seconds between edits, so as to not clog the recent changes list and user watchlists. After being accepted and a bureaucrat has marked them as a bot, they can edit at a much faster pace. Bots doing non-urgent tasks should edit approximately once every ten seconds, while bots who would benefit from faster editing may edit approximately once every every four seconds.

Also, to eliminate the need to spam the bot talk pages, please add Wikipedia:Bot owners' noticeboard to your watchlist. Future messages which affect bot owners will be posted there. Thank you. --Mets501 05:11, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Books

[edit]

I notice that here and elsewhere, you have been tagging short stories as part of WikiProject Books. Is that your intention? - Jmabel | Talk 04:37, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Further to this comment, don't forget that the {{NovelsWikiProject}} is probably a more appropriate tag to add for all works of prose narrative fiction. That is Novels, Novellas, Novelettes and Short stories. Thanks :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 11:12, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that you tagged http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/We_All_Use_Math_Every_Day in this WikiProject. "We All Use Math Everyday" is an program that creates math education supplements that connect the tv show Numb3rs to the classroom. So, I think I'll remove the project heading. --CmaccompH89 08:06, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WPBio tagging

[edit]

Why on earth would you want to do bot tagging of {{WPBiography}} without using my plugin?

The plugin is coded to recognise existing templates and parameters (including templates using a redirect), to skip deleted pages, to convert {{reqphoto}} to needs-photo=yes, to convert {{blp}} to living=yes, so on and so on. I can't understand why you'd want to tag with AWB without using it. --kingboyk 11:49, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm currently testing a new version which has some major improvements for WPBio. Keep an eye out for the next release of AWB! :) --kingboyk (talk) 17:28, 15 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bot tagging

[edit]

Please review and filter your lists before doing a tagging run. If you right click the article list in AWB, you can filter by namespace and other criteria. Removing all Wikipedia talk pages would be a good start. Wikipedia:WikiProject Musical Theatre/Templates and Wikipedia:WikiProject Queen are not Songs articles! :) No reply needed. Thanks. --kingboyk (talk) 14:48, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reply: Woah... I'm sorry! I thought I'd filtered them all to only talk pages. :( Sorry. I've corrected this, and will resume the run. thadius856talk|airports|neutrality 17:20, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That's ok, I know how easy it is to make these mistakes. :) Carry on! :) --kingboyk (talk) 00:22, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to solicit feedback concerning moving this to Adam Jones (football). It makes sense to me, but is there consensus? Please opine in the section of the article talk page. Cheers, Dlohcierekim's sock (talk) 21:17, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
