[edit]

Hello, TeradGames. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Astro Colony".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been deleted. Hello TeradGames. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Draft:Astro Colony, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:TeradGames. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=TeradGames|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Please note that merely declaring a conflict-of-interest without describing your employer, client, and affiliation does not satisfy our disclosure requirements.Red-tailed hawk (nest) 18:03, 15 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Red-tailed hawk,
Sorry, I honestly do not understand what do you mean with "gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic".
In case I am doing something against Wikipedia's rules, please let me know, but I am very confused about it. Does it mean we - Terad Games - can not create a page about our own game?
What I can state is that I am "not being directly or indirectly compensated for [my] your edits".
Thank you in advance for your help!
Kind regards,
Terad Games TeradGames (talk) 17:50, 16 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Astro Colony moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Astro Colony, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. – Pbrks (t • c) 18:02, 10 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Pbrks, I will look into the guideline.
For how I do understand, I have to provide sources to the page to provide objective evidence (for example steam page, articles, Wiki fandom, video links, website links).
I am going to follow the steps you recommended and submit for review. TeradGames (talk) 18:47, 10 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Steam pages, fan run wikis, and Youtube are not reliable sources. We need sources from reliable, independent sources. – Pbrks (t • c) 20:57, 10 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I see, thank you, then I will add Metacritic and some articles about it.
Can I modify the draft, correct? Or am I blocked? TeradGames (talk) 23:01, 10 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, club, organization, company, or website, I have blocked this account from editing. You are welcome to continue editing after you have chosen a new username that complies with Wikipedia's username policy.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable, regardless of the username that you choose. Additionally, if your contributions to Wikipedia form all or part of work for which you are, or expect to be, paid or compensated in any way, you must disclose who is paying you to edit here.

Please take a moment to either create a new account, or request a username change of your current account here. The new username that you choose must represent you as an individual person, and it must comply with Wikipedia's username policy.
  • To create a new account with a different username, simply log out of this account and then click here to make a new one.
  • If you prefer to change the username on this account, you may do so by adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page here: {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken or in use by another account. You can go here to search and see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is available to be taken.

Please also note that you are permitted to use a username that contains the name of a company or organization if it also identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company".

Appeals: If your username does not represent a group, organization, website, or other entity described above, and if you believe that this block was incorrect or made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page here: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}

Thank you. 331dot (talk) 19:07, 10 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have renamed your account. As you say you will make the paid editing disclosure, I will remove the block. 331dot (talk) 12:59, 11 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That's fine, but what about the conflict of interest issues that were also part of the reason for the block? What is your connection to Terad Games? You used "we" ... can we be assured that one person alone will have the account per our policy? And if you can't edit about the company or its games, what else might you edit about? Daniel Case (talk) 06:31, 11 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Daniel Case, thank you for your answer!
I may need some clarification then, as I may then have misunderstood the "If you have a conflict of interest with the topic you are writing about, you should disclose it on the draft's talk page".
I am the developer of Astro Colony. I thought enough would have been declaring that there is "Conflict of Interest" (I selected that "This user has publicly declared that they have a conflict of interest regarding the Wikipedia article Astro_Colony").
Yesterday your colleague 331dot stated that there is a policy against username, which I totally understand, and that's why I asked to change it.
I suppose that what I am doing wrong is that I "must disclose who is paying you to edit here", even if I am not technically paid by anybody as I am the creator of the subject (the game Astro Colony), but that the situation is similar to be identified as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company"? I am very thankful that you are using your time and kindness to help me out! I may have overlooked the policy, I tried to follow the steps, but I probably misunderstood. TeradGames (talk) 09:32, 11 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Do you derive any income from your work as the developer of the game? That's paid editing, even if no one is specifically paying you to edit or asking you to edit. 331dot (talk) 10:16, 11 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Now it is clear, thank you very much!
Once my new requested username is going to be changed/approved, I can properly fill the "Template:Connected contributor (paid)" and "Template:Paid". TeradGames (talk) 12:46, 11 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you WP:TOOSOON and ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ for reviewing the article.
I edit according to the issues raised: I added a Review section about the reception of the topic (with reference) and I have removed the sources that perhaps can only be considered as "quotations" of the topic. I do understand the skepticism - as it is written by a direct interested party -, so the type of contributions (conflict of interest) is clearly disclosed.
