- Please provide references for your work or it will be removed from wikipedia. thanks --Merbabu 10:44, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
- Which part of the guidelines that I violate?
- The reference of my work is the official web site of Surabaya (http://www.surabaya.go.id)
- The major guideline you are violating is WP:SIZE#A_rule_of_thumb - there is no need for short articles to exist. See also Wikipedia:Stub - "small articles with little properly sourced information or with no inherent notability may end up being nominated for deletion or be merged into another relevant article." (Caniago 16:56, 6 September 2007 (UTC))
- Thank Caniago for providing a clearer direction for me as a new contributor. Certainly it is much clearer than previous message that I got. I really appreciate that.
However, it has currently little information but it is properly sourced. Moreover, I think someone that is tampering my work also violate the rule that you were referring to. Please allow me to quote < 1 KB If an article or list has remained this size for over a couple of months, consider combining it with a related page.
Actually I got the idea after looking at Sidoarjo which has subdistrict information like I did. But, then I extended it further with the village information. Since my daily work does not related to that information of course I have to build it from scratch. However, I did as careful as I can. I always use pertinent information or previous works (for instance Sidoarjo) as reference. And more important, I never have any intention to screw wikipedia and I get no personal benefit at all by this contribution. But, frankly speaking, the response that I get is really really disappointed me. I feel that I was treated like an intruder rather than a volunteer which usually get proper respect. Anyway, I'll try to continue my work unless my work get unproper action again. By that time I think I should forget my good will for contributing. Anyway, thanks for reading my response.Tedjo 12:07, 7 September 2007 (UTC)- I can appreciate your good intentions, but I fail to see the value in creating articles about Indonesia down to the village level. All our articles at the city and regency level are of really poor quality, including Surabaya, so why not focus your efforts in helping us improving these important articles instead of spending your efforts creating pointless one or two sentence articles about villages which have little or no importance? The only reason the Sidoarjo exists is because the mudflow issue has received a lot of international media attention. I would argue that even for Sidoarjo we don't need a one paragraph article which could be merged into some other more important article. (Caniago 14:27, 7 September 2007 (UTC))
- Thanks Caniago for your prompt response.
I crossed Surabaya part of wikipedia after searching for detailed information about Hannover. Because of the amount of information about Indonesia that exist here then I decided to contribute something about my city. One sentence article is not my destination. Since I'm rather a structured person then I created the structure before the essay.
But, if you think that village level information is useless for the moment of time then I think I should just quit since I am not a person with plenty of spare time nor a good writer. You can delete all the article and template that I created.
One thing, if I may suggest, is that please stop treat fellow contributors, especially a new one, with the act of a police or a 'pejabat' by overrule the work of those fellow contributors before doing any proper discussion.
Finally, bye Caniago. Happy contributing!Tedjo 15:49, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

- Take a look at this discussion here too: Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Indonesia#Villages_and_subdistricts. We appreciate all contributions, but the wider aspects of all our articles related to Indonesia needs to be considered. There are only a few of us regular Indonesia specialist editors here, and the more articles which get created the harder it is for us to maintain them. So, we want to improve the ones we already have before creating new lots of ones. (Caniago 16:41, 7 September 2007 (UTC))
