ELNO

Hi Ted. I see you restored a couple of external links that I removed from Abingdon-on-Thames on the grounds of WP:ELNO. I think the first one (the Archaeological and Historical Society) is borderline ― the society is concerned with the broad history of Abingdon ― but to my mind the second (the soldiers' database) is straightforwardly too narrow in scope. Specifically, I think it fails this requirement: "Similarly, a website on a specific subject [WWI veterans from Abingdon] should usually not be linked from an article about a general subject [the town of Abingdon]." The website in question (no disrespect intended, obviously) concerns a small aspect of the article topic; my understanding of WP:ELNO is that only websites about Abingdon in general, and not particular aspects of it, should be added as External Links. I fail to understand how my last edit violates WP:PROMOTION guidelines. Can you explain which exact point does it concern? If you cannot provide any justification behind your revert, I will consider the claim void and bring back my edit. "C4FM" is a trademark, not a widely recognized modulation. No, I don't. How is stating that X is a trademark (or a part of it) a violation? Which exact point of that guideline applies? The information provided by me is unbiased and objective, it's also verifiable with a reference.
