Speedy deletion nomination of Lisaan ud-Da'wat il-'Alaviyah

[edit]

Hello TeamAlavi,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Lisaan ud-Da'wat il-'Alaviyah for deletion, because it's too short to identify the subject of the article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Involving wrongfully the matter of Daawedaar

[edit]

Hello,

I think someone is editing this page by altering and changing the subject matter involving the word "Daawedaar". Brother, I have nothing to do with what is going on for the Status of Da'i in Dawoodi Bohras. I respect you all. Brother, please don't drag anything that hurts. Who is true and who is not, is not the thing which could be discussed at this platform.

Template Removal

[edit]

Hello Sir/s,

As regards to the Template Removal of the page "Haatim Zakiyuddin", I really regret for that irresponsible act. I therefore request you to all, to help make this article more reliable and categorically well defined. The articles namely, "Alavi Bohras", "Lisaan ud-Da'wat il-'Alaviyah" and "Haatim Zakiyuddin" are regularly modified, materialized and updated by myself.

"Haatim Zakiyuddin" as I think is a Religious Figure or Community leader. I try to present his overall personality being the Spiritual Head of Alavi Bohras. Please help me out to solve various templates or things like that.

Thanks

Re: Alavi Bohras

[edit]

Hello! Regarding your question on my edits to Alavi Bohras, I was applying the Wikipedia manual of style recommendations for religious honorifics. The general guidelines for religious titles can be found at WP:NCCL, and the specific ones for Muslim honorifics are at WP:PBUH. Basically, honorifics such as PBUH, RA, AS, SWT, and similar are not normally used except where they are part of quotations. Hope this information is helpful to you. Best wishes and happy editing! Control copyright icon Hello TeamAlavi, and welcome to Wikipedia. All or some of your addition(s) to Alavi Bohras have been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. If you have added any other content from this source, please remove it. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 16:06, 1 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Manual of Style

[edit]

Hello. I did some cleanup work on an article you created, Alavi Bohras. The changes I made were to help the article follow the Wikipedia Manual of Style. Please take a look at the manual, especially the section on text formatting. It explains when to use italics and boldface, and when not to. Thanks. BlackcurrantTea (talk) 08:15, 11 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:A detailed account about an 'Alavi Bohra missionary going into the court of Mughal Emperor Jahangir in Lahore.pdf requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F10 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a file that is not an image, sound file or video clip (e.g. a Word document or PDF file) that has no encyclopedic use.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. – Train2104 (t • c) 15:52, 31 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Gujarati Wikipedia

[edit]

Assalamu alaykum NoorAlavi Saheb

Would you consider in helping to post articles in Gujarati language about the Alavi Bohra and other Muslim communities of Gujarat on the Gujarati Wikipedia at http://gu.wikipedia.org ? You can find my page at http://gu.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Lala_khan .

There is very little content and active editors there and your help is needed and will be greatly appreciated. --Lala khan (talk) 21:02, 13 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your answer NoorAlavi Saheb. Could you please send me links to the specific publications that discuss the Muslim communities of Gujarat as there are many publications available on the site. I will definitely be interested in collectively working on the newsletter. --Lala khan (talk) 20:21, 17 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sufis in Gujarati Wikipedia, take a look

[edit]

http://gu.wikipedia.org has, never mind the many Muslim communities of Gujarat, hardly any articles about Islam and Muslims in general as even I have not gotten down to start creating these pages but hopefully I'll be able to soon. You can check this category gu:શ્રેણી:સૂફી સંત for some preliminary article stubs I've recently created about famous Sufis of the subcontinent. For general articles about Islam you can check gu:શ્રેણી:ઇસ્લામ to see the little articles that are present. It doesn't even look like there are articles for Sunni Islam, Shia Islam, Sufism, etc. on Gujarati Wikipedia. That is why your work is desperately needed there as well. --Lala khan (talk) 20:22, 17 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

LuD - Alavi

[edit]

Seems fair. Pls point me to the study/research you speak of?

I see you have made edits. If I were you, I'd leave references to the Dawoodi's usage as a reference.

As a consequence of your insistence on separating the topics, I am proposing adding a disambiguation for Lisan al Dawat and change all references in the current page to Lisan al Dawat Alawiyah.

Or ...

A lot of what's said in the current page holds valid for the Dawoodis side of the equation, too. Perhaps then there must be a Lisan al Dawat page with common information, and two dialect pages with one each for the Alavis and the Dawoodis.

What is your preference?

Thanks for reaching out. Murtaza.aliakbar (talk) 08:24, 17 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Taslimaat e hamidah,

With Du’aa e Khayr and well-being.

Regarding research paper of LD, I am trying to locate the link as it was there some time back but right now unavailable. As soon as I get through to it I will inform you. If possible please send me your email.

I was editing the LD page but due to time constraint could not able to do it regularly. There are lot many things to be added. After the seat of Alavi Da’wat got shifted to Vadodara in 1699 AD, the lisaan got its new face based on Gujarati syntax. During the period of Ahmedabad, the official language was Arabic and we find only fragments of LD written in Arabicized Gujarati language. Since 1880 AD in Vadodara a lot of work has been carried out by Alavi Du’aat in prose as well as poetry.

Shortly, I will begin its editing insha-allaah. As per your preferences, I opt for the first one. There are many old hand-written documents with me suggesting the progress of LD in Alavi Da’wat. Ma’as Salaamah, Tahayyaat.

--NoorAlavi (talk) 12:03, 22 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@NoorAlavi: Salaam. Appreciate your effort in documenting the language.

I think the research deserves to be linked from the Lisan ud Dawat page. If it has been taken down, please add it back up. In any case, here's a throwaway email-id if you wish to share it privately: mark.sunnyvale at gmail

Also, there is inevitably more dawoodi bohra related changes on the page that you'd rather be limited to the Alavis.

I'd suggest you get the page protected: WP:RFP

Your edits on Haatim Zakiyuddin seem to be experimenting with changing or deleting content. For example, this edit suggests you are not familiar with how {{DEFAULTSORT}} works and how its parameters should be set. Also, you should use edit summaries to explain/justify significant edits.
