Hello Tariq
You dealt with a slow-burning edit-war here recently (and thank you, BTW, for that). I think it is kicking off again; can offer some perspective?
Thanks! Xyl 54 (talk) 19:47, 25 August 2010 (UTC)

Um... sure. You're edit-warring. Stop. -- tariqabjotu 13:49, 26 August 2010 (UTC)

Block of ReaverFlash

Regarding the 48 hour block of this editor for edit-warring, I agree that the demand for a warning before an AN3 filing is silly. However, he did stop edit-warring once the issue was escalated to AN3. The purpose of a block is to stop the edit-warring, which self-correction seems to have (belatedly) done. So here's a compromise proposal. We unblock him and topic ban him from those two articles until the issue is resolved on talk. If he edits them before that point, then we re-block him for one week instead of the original 48 hours. What do you say?--Chaser (talk) 02:05, 27 August 2010 (UTC)

That's fine. Is there an ArbCom case that allows us to topic ban him? I thought there was some discussion not too long ago saying that topic bans were normally not within our discretion unless there was an ArbCom case to support them. But, either way, I don't mind if you do that. -- tariqabjotu 07:20, 27 August 2010 (UTC)

Nothing is unclear, although it would have been original research to have said that the wind speed indicates a lower category storm. I simply requested a source confirming the downgrade, especially since the rest of the article had no mention of it. I went ahead and added one in the Meteorological history section. Tariq, I get a feeling clone wars are trendy. Maybe some administrative eye could help to stabilize the article. AgadaUrbanit (talk) 00:48, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

Afghanistan article intentional content disruption and vandalism...

Dear Tariqabjotu, I write to you because you already have experience with the user Jrkso. He is blatantly and repeatedly trying to disrupt the content of the main Afghanistan article.

We have had the following discussion, with the attempt of mediation by the user Torchwood Who?see here. Unfortunately, it failed. I have given dozens of very reliable sources for my Afghanistan edits, but he keeps removing them, restoring his unsourced version. Here you can see my latest very well-sourced version and this is the version Jrkso keeps restoring, removing academic and other sources as well as changing content. It goes so far that he repeatedly restores the wrong spelling of names. For example Hekmatyar's surname is "Gulbuddin" see here, he keeps restoring "Gulbadin".

This has been going on for days and I do not want to further waste my time with someone obviously keen to engage in an edit war and keen to hide realities of Afghan history or call sources such as Human Rights Watch "dubious". I will have to revert once again, and that ain't no fun.—JCAla (talk) 9 September 2010 (UTC)

Main page

I really, strongly, believe you should reconsider your position on describing Karachi as a "town" or "hometown". I sense there may be a difference over definitions - but I can assure you that, in the UK and I am confident in other parts of the world as well, the words "town" and "hometown" will be seen as demeaning to what is, by any stretch of the imagination, a major urban area and major city. Essentially, a city is large and important; a town is not. The article on Karachi refers to it as a city, and that should be the case with the main page as well. Please reconsider. Regards, Ghmyrtle (talk) 22:59, 17 September 2010 (UTC)

Replied on WP:ERRORS. Summary: Karachi is not a town, but it can be a hometown. They're different words, with different meanings. -- tariqabjotu 23:20, 17 September 2010 (UTC)

From a WP:ERRORS stalker, good job with handling everything that comes that way over ITN.

A question

A few weeks ago, you blocked me and AzureFury a couple of time for edit-warring. I tried to disengage from this user, but he continues to stalk me, just to revert my edits and make personal attacks against me. He stalked me to Women's rights in Iran, a page he had never edited, just to revert me, since then he has made a dozen of reverts on that page (four reverts in the last 24 hours [1]), and continues to canvass like-minded editors to help him revert, while making personal attacks against me calling me a "delusional editor"[2], a "lunatic"[3], among other personal attacks. If you study his talk page, he has had at least 3 warnings from other editors since his last block, to stop making personal attacks and edit-warring on other pages too. He seems to have made a habit of this, What can be done about this user?AlexanderPar (talk) 23:13, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

Hi Tariqabjotu, following the recent deterioration in editing of the Israel-Palestine set of articles, I've set up a page to discuss the problem and possible solutions at Wikipedia:WikiProject Arbitration Enforcement/Israel-Palestine articles. Your input would be appreciated. PhilKnight (talk) 15:17, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

I'm not going to comment on the Gideon Levy article; I do not want to be involved in the dispute. --tariqabjotu 02:12, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
I'm not expecting you to get involved. I would appreciate a private response to my query since I consider you to be a voice of reason. JaakobouChalk Talk 14:17, 8 November 2010 (UTC)

I'm not thrilled about the page being protected, but I have to admit that you did the right thing. Thanks. I just hope we don't have to protect all the pages RomaHistorian edits, just to get these things fixed. :-) Dylan Flaherty(talk) 03:10, 10 November 2010 (UTC)
