Qi Dao
[edit]Regarding the deletion discussion for Qi Dao that is ongoing- Wikipedia is organized according to several basic principles. Two of those are notability and verifiability. The crux of the idea is that Wikipedia is here to reflect information found in existing, reliable sources, rather than to serve as a medium for promoting new ideas that have not been investigated by the wider academic community. These guidelines are necessary to prevent Wikipedia from being exploited for commercial promotions, or used as part of a hoax or fraud. Without reliable references for the article on Qi Dao- material that has appeared in third-party publications not written by individuals associated with that particular school or movement, and subject to necessary academic or journalistic rigor- it is impossible to determine what, if any, material is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia. Also, given that your username is very similar to the name used by the individual who is responsible for most of the Qi Dao material on the Internet that I've seen, you might want to review the conflict of interest guidelines. It would be good to state clearly if you are just an interested practitioner of Qi Dao, or have some further affiliation with the organization- editors and administrators tend to look much more favorably on contributions from individuals who are up front about their association with a topic that they are editing. I'm happy to respond to questions if you have any. --Clay Collier (talk) 19:44, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
