Thanks a lot

That worked..exactly what i wanted...

Thanks a lot activevoid 17:05, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

Is this yours...?

User:HorroWiol? The account claims as much, but has also just called some established editors vandals and listed them at AIAV. I just blocked, since I saw no evidence of it being your alternate account. If I have erred, I am really sorry about that. All the best -- Banes 10:25, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

Ah thanks, didn't think so. :) I'll add the impersonation template thing now. Can't understand either why someone would impersonate you, seems a bit random (you have enemies!). Regards -- Banes 10:38, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

Hey Tango. I cant seem to get on wiki-bootcamp for some reason. I'm using this link. Would you happen to know why its not working? Please respond on my talk page. Thanks. SynergeticMaggot 03:08, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

Moving a page

Hi,

I see ur an admin.

I want to know: 1. Is it possible to move an IP page to a new user created account with talk page and history et al. 2. Is it possible to archive the talk page of an IP with a link on the IP user talk page, and if possible, how?

Thanks. Newbie,learning 12:52, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

It worked. Thank you. Newbie, learning 16:03, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

Re: Help is Here (TMNT Donatello)

Uh, yes. I asked how to get my topic Vector The Crocodile to a lower case t since that is the real spelling, but when I asked in the help section, I couldn't understand how to carry out the suggestions I got there except for the 2nd one, and I have a really bad feeling I carried it out incorrectly. Question about splitting articles

Hi again, sorry for bugging you. I have a question about splitting artickles: it says on the Chaotix page that the articles needed splitting. As you know, I have already made an article on Vector the Crocodile, so today I typed up one on Espio the Chameleon. But I realized it wouldn't work since Espio is a redirect to Chaotix, so I instead copied the text I had written up for Espio and saved it on a document. Anyway, I was wondering about the whole redirect thing: if I posted the article on Wikipedia, it would probably be instantly deleted due to the redirect, so I thought I'd ask an admin about this... TMNT Donatello 05:23, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Well, I tried to post the article, but it was deleted right after I posted it due to the redirect to Chaotix. Exactly how do I replace a redirect?
Never mind, I figured it out. Thanks anyway, though. Oh, and I tried it on Espio the Chameleon. TMNT Donatello 04:22, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

Nubio username & password

Was going to add "Is there a way to edit the first section of an article?" and tweak "Where can I report persistent vandals?" (needs a note on going through a series of warning messages) to your fantastic Nubio (I mean that!).--Fuhghettaboutit 05:29, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Tangotango, thanks for signing up for the Esperanza User Page Contest. The judges have received the fifteen entries, and are ready to start judging. The judges will take a week to complete the judging process, and they will contact all the participants when the judging is done.

Please drop by the contest page for contest updates and questions. Take care, and good luck! May the Force be with you! Shreshth91($ |-| ŗ 3 $ |-| ţ |-|) 08:14, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

BTW, i noticed you were blocking socks of (probably) noexistant accounts, most of which were given the sock template by Romantic Cookie (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) . Tagging nonexistent accounts seems to be this dude's new game for the past few days, see also User_talk:Aknorals#User:Aknophobiac -Aknorals 13:38, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

August Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature: To-Do List
The Esperanza To-Do List is a place where you may list any request, big or small, for assistance. If you need help with archiving your usertalk, for example, all you need to do is list it here and somebody will help you out. Likewise, if you need help with some area of editing on Wikipedia, list it here! Again, any matter, trivial or not, can be placed on this page. However, all matters listed on this page must not be of an argumentative nature. You do not need to be a member of Esperanza (or this program) to place or fulfill requests on this page. If you don't have any requests, consider coming by and fulfilling a few! This program has not been very active, but has lots of potential!
What's New?
In order to help proposed programs become specific enough to make into full-fledged programs, the In development section of the proposals page has been created. Proposals that are promising, but need to be organized in more detail are listed here. Please take a look at what is there, and help the proposals turn into programs.
To improve both the layout and text of the front page, in an attempt to clarify the image of Esperanza, the front page is going to have some redesigning take place. Please take your creative minds to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Front page redesign to brainstorm good ideas.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  1. In order to make sure all users who join Esperanza are welcomed, a list of volunteers who are willing to welcome new Esperanzians is at Wikipedia:Esperanza/Members#Esperanza_welcomers. Please add yourself if you are interested; we want to make sure all new Esperanza members are welcomed!
  2. The In development section of the proposals page has been created.
  3. Proposals page: Some proposals have been moved to the aforementioned "In development" section, some have been left as a proposal, and others have been archived. For those proposals that were a good idea but didn't necessarily constitute a program, General Esperanzial Actions has been created.
  4. Two small pieces of charter reform will be decided on in a straw poll at Wikipedia talk:Esperanza/Governance. One involves filling the position of any councillors who may leave, the other involves reforming the charter.
  5. Until cooperation with the Kindness Campaign is better defined, it remains as a proposed program.
  6. There is a page for discussing the front page redesign.

Although having the newsletter appear on everyone's userpage is desired, this may not be ideal for everyone. If, in the future, you wish to receive a link to the newsletter, rather than the newsletter itself, you may add yourself to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Newsletter/Opt Out List.

Some cake for you!

Hi Tangotango, thanks for the birthday greetings! Please have some of my real life brithday cake (which doesn't exist anymore *sob*) :P Cheers!! --Srikeit (Talk | Email) 11:09, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

Greetings, Tangotango. The judges would like to announce that the winner for the Esperanza User Page Contest has been chosen. Congratulations to Buchanan-Hermit for winning the contest. The winning entry can be found here.

If you'd like to participate in the contest again, check by the contest page in a few days and sign up. See you around. May the Force be with you! Shreshth91($ |-| ŗ 3 $ |-| ţ |-|) 16:37, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

Hi. Srikeit pointed me to this page on IRC (guess he's still stalking you). I couldn't find you online at the moment, but I wanted to tell you that where you say there are 2247 pages, I think you are missing some; Durin esimates it at ten times that amount, actually. I think you scanned just Category:Fair use images, when in fact, there are many many more images in all of that category's subcategories. Of course, maybe what you have is just a test, but I thought I'd let you know just in case. I really appreciate your work on this. :-) Dmcdevit·t 07:46, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks again. Just wanted to note that unfortunately, I'm on vacation right now logging in from a hotel computer, so no IRC for at least a week. If you want to find anyone to talk to about it, Durin (normal nick "Backstretch") probably knows more about it than me anyway. He's usually in that private channel we were in the other day. GFWC

I found an exchange between you and Android at the Village Pump about proxy servers circumventing the Great Firewall. Since I thoroughly enjoy editing here and spreading knowledge – many towns in Germany have me to thank that there are now articles about them for English speakers to read – I was wondering if you could point me at some more information about these proxies. If I am to continue editing here, it will be necessary for me quite soon. I can be reached through my talk page or the email link. Thanks for any help. Kelisi 00:51, 17 August 2006 (UTC) *************

Thank you very much for all that. I don't know whether I'll be able to work it out, but I'll give it a try, of course. Kelisi 02:45, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

Vandalism and 3RR

Hello admin. Technajunky keeps deleting sources and facts from the article Timur (in this case, it is a quote from the Encyclopaedia of Islam, which is one of the most reliable and authoritative sources in regard of Islamic history). Besides that, he has violated the 3RR. Please revert his changes and maybe block the article for a while. Thanks.

PS: here is another well-respected source disproving his claim: "Timur" in The Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia, 6th ed. Copyright © 2005, Columbia University Press

I hate protecting a page, just because of the impact on the normal and uninvolved user. Do you think it would be feasible to request that they discuss their disagreements and not edit the page? alphaChimp laudare 03:13, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

Hi, there may be some valid content in the edit history of TOTSE, could you take a look at the earlier versions, say a day ago? You may want to restore the legitimate content and semi-protect it. Thanks. --Vsion 03:06, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

Bug

There's a bug (or perhaps missing feature) in this which you may not be aware of. My own RfA has a joint nomination, but neither of these is counted in the total. I have seen other RfAs with multiple nominations, and in a close result this could give a misleading impression. Stephen B Streater 09:23, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

Your Question at 10:52, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

Hi, My name is Dep. Garcia you recently asked me on my talk page about the "Wikipedians needing help" category I put on my user page. The reason I did this was so I could have a link to the "Wikipedians needing help" page without typing anything in, as I would love to help new users.

But thanks for telling me about my mistake

Kind Regards

Dep. Garcia 17:05, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

Keeping track of Esperanza users who haven't been welcomed

Hey Tangotango, I have a cool tech-related question/request for you. We're trying to make sure that all new Esperanza members are welcomed, and have added section on the members page for those who want to welcome them. However, there could be cases where new members fall through the cracks, so to speak. It was mentioned at the recent Esperanza Council meeting that you are rather good at creating pages such as one that could keep track of any Esperanza members who haven't been welcomed. Do you think this would be possible? I don't know much about it, but your technical prowess has been highly spoken of, so hopefully you will have an idea. Many thanks! -- Natalya 01:07, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

That's fantastic, Tangotango, thanks so much for getting that to work! Just to clarify, this lists all the new Esperanza members since the last time the bot ran, correct? If it ran every four days that would probably be fine, I would imagine that with enough welcomers, everyone should be covered within that time period, and hopefully not get left behind. What do you think? Thanks again! -- Natalya 14:54, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
Sounds like a plan. Let me know when it gets approved, and I'll let all the welcomers know about it. They will certainly appretiate having the list! -- Natalya 23:41, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
