Speedy deletion of Smokefree Coalition
[edit]A tag has been placed on Smokefree Coalition requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for companies and corporations.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. TN‑X-Man 16:43, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
I'd also like to note that Adoption Identity Movement, the article you created, also meets our criteria for speedy deletion. Please read up on our basic policies. You are welcome to create the articles again, but if you don't want them to be deleted again, they have to meet our criteria. You have to explain why the subject is important/notable. You can also help the articles by citing multiple, independent reliable sources that cover these organizations. Citing a self-published geocities webpage is problematic, because the source is not independent from the organization, and the source is self-published. If you have questions about any of this, or if you want access to the old versions of the articles that were deleted, contact me or reply here. I'd like to encourage you to become an active and productive wikipedian. Please don't be discouraged that these articles were deleted for now. We just have to make sure that everything that we publish meets minimal standards (and you are welcome to rework the articles and publish them again once they meet those standards). Good luck.-Andrew c [talk] 16:54, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
- Missouri Alliance for Animal Legislation as likewise been deleted, but I found Smokefree Coalition not speedy deletable (but that doesn't mean you are off the hook, it would still probably be deleted at WP:AFD). You need to provide independent sourcing. And another thing I noticed is copyright violation. You can't copy the words that an organization uses on their webpage. You also can't paraphrase. First of all, it isn't neutral nor encyclopedic to provide a description of the organization simply in their own words. Furthermore, we get into legal issues if the number of exact copied words is too high. Try writing a summary in your own words, or find what other sources are saying about the organization in question, instead of simply copying (almost verbatim) content from their own webpage. Keep in mind that we are an encyclopedia, not a web directory. Hope this helps.-Andrew c [talk] 17:06, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed maintenance templates from Smokefree Coalition. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Repost of Missouri Alliance for Animal Legislation
[edit]A tag has been placed on Missouri Alliance for Animal Legislation requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia, because it appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion. If you can indicate how it is different from the previously posted material, place the template {{hangon}} underneath the other template on the article and put a note on the page's discussion page saying why this article should stay. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. If you believe the original discussion was unjustified, please use deletion review instead of continuing to recreate the page. Thank you. Adolphus79 (talk) 02:35, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from Missouri Alliance for Animal Legislation, a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. - Adolphus79 (talk) 02:40, 26 November 2008 (UTC)
Re: MAAL
[edit]I deleted your article because it was written in a promotional and non-neutral style, which is not allowed on Wikipedia. However, while that problem can be overcome by re-writing the article, it also has another problem that can't easily be overcome: it fails (or very nearly fails) Wikipedia's notability rules found here. While I was able to find quite a few news stories that mention it, they provide little or no information of encyclopedic value. You could try rewriting the article to make it more neutral, but even then, I would not be surprised if someone tags for deletion for a lack of notability. I think the best course of action to take if this is a college assignment would be to find another topic to write about or, if you can't do that or were assigned a topic, I would recommend talking to your professor. He/she might let you choose another topic or they may know of some reliable sources that neither of us has found. Thingg⊕⊗ 03:01, 26 November 2008 (UTC)
Assignments
[edit]Wikipedia is absolutely not for college assignments. (OK, a few do get posted and accepted.) If any of your lecturers tell you to create articles here, tell them to contact me. See comparison of wiki farms for alternative places to publish.
Note that even if your essays have been redirected, you can still view and print them for your supervisor: abortion movements and health and social class (note your spurious capitals in both titles). — RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 14:53, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of Abortion Movements
[edit]A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Abortion Movements, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:
- Redundant and POV
All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. --smurdah (talk) 18:48, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
