Photo licensing

[edit]

I'm confused about a photo you seem to have taken, uploaed at Flickr and at Commons. Your photos at Flickr are licensed no-$ non-commercial re-use only. This contradicts the licensing at Commons, which can be restricted by attribution and share-alike only, but not restricted by commercial use or modification. We can't be certain that Takeshita kenji at Wikimedia and Neil Hodges (takenji1989) at Flickr are the same person. We can't be certain which license the owner of the photo wanted to use: cc-by-sa AND non-commercial or just cc-by-sa. When we're not sure, the safest thing is to delete the photo from Commons rather than risk violating the rights of Neil Hodges at Flickr. You don't need to say whether or not you are the same person, and even if you said it, it wouldn't help resolve anything. The contradictory license would still be there.

I think the best thing, if you do want to keep File:Ballard Terminal Railroad switcher.jpg at Commons, is to change the license at Flickr to remove the no-$ restriction. Thanks for the photo, by the way. I've been wanting to take a picture of the Ballard Terminal RR's locomotive for a while. --Dennis Bratland (talk) 19:50, 1 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
