Featured article review for Yosemite

[edit]

I have nominated Yosemite National Park for a featured article review here. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets featured article criteria. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. If substantial concerns are not addressed during the review period, the article will be moved to the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Delist" the article's featured status. The instructions for the review process are here. Hog Farm Talk 07:30, 14 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Concerning your absence from the WWF

[edit]

It's been months since you've last posted on the WWF (http://cdweather.boards.net).

Thus, I hope you don't mind what I'm saying here (or what I've said the past few months), though I'd like to say that I've appreciated your weather contributions when you were around. Make what you will of the following statements. You've taught me a lot, especially regarding WX station placement, come forward with actual data and such. I'm sure many others appreciated your contributions, too, even if they didn't agree with you in certain political matters. Good work with https://climateatlas.org, in spite of the fact there are some bugs/issues with it—it's easier to use than NWS' NOWData (even though I use that too). I like the "Generate Wiki Climate Box" feature, as it makes it much easier to generate Wikipedia-format climate boxes.

Mind you, I'm not excusing another user's nasty behavior that led to his ban (I've messaged you on that one before if I'm not mistaken), but lately activity has been garbage, and I myself have been less interested in posting there, due to your departure. There is a deficit of users from the SE USA, which affects me more now that I've moved back to ENC this past April. I, thus, ask you to resume posting on the WWF, as you've added a lot of activity, and I find PWS data interesting—especially if the sensor's placement is good...especially if at times you feel like resuming posting. Just be yourself, this is meant to be an invite to encourage you to start posting on the WWF again, as I certainly hope to see you back...we all miss your weather contributions (myself included), not to suck up to you or something.

Have a good day!

I was disappointed to see you had stopped posting on the forum. I checked back in there to see if anything had changed. It seemed mostly the same, but would probably be a lot less dull if you continue to post there.
On a unrelated note, I have been working on my remote cellular weather station a bit more. I managed to sort out the problems by using a different (and better) microcontroller and seems to be working great. It's currently in the backyard next to my PWS and has been going for about 2 weeks. I created this site to view the data if you want to check it out. [2]http://142.11.236.169/php/weatherstation.php.
Note that it's only measuring temp, humidity, and pressure right now. I still have to add a rain gauge. Tadenham (talk) 23:47, 11 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Well I'm really glad you decided to start posting there again! I honestly needed a long break from the WWF and I'm going to resume posting in a few days from now (I told MeteoMan yesterday to let some members know about my intent to resume posting). I've learned how to use QGIS and I made a map of largest recorded diurnal amplitudes for the CONUS ThreadEx sites (https://i.imgur.com/VI6WTHW.png). Only a small fraction of the 15K stations in the USA, but I figure it's interesting nonetheless.
Pretty cool you got that cellular PWS to work out so far, feel free to let me know how it goes. It'd be interesting.
I'll look forward to seeing you on there soon, we could probably discuss more on this in DMs/the shoutbox! Benfxmth (talk) 00:36, 12 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

A barnstar for you!

Thank you for your research and collation on climate. 迷斯拉10032号 (talk) 13:31, 17 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please update the climate data of these places?

[edit]

The previous use of this data infoclimat.fr only temporarily filled the gap in the climate data of this place. But such a data source is not a good data source, so we hope to have better and more authoritative data sources to replace these temporary data sources.

First of all, thank you for your timely update of Kékes and Lomnický štít pages and climate data.

For example, Utena in Lithuania; Liberec in the Czech Republic. 迷斯拉10032号 (talk) 13:42, 17 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The data to be updated are Košice, Lučenec, Piešťany and Chopok for Slovakia. Liberec, Holešov, Karlovy Vary, Přibyslav, Ostrava, Přimda and Lysá hora for Czech Republic. Kolka, Ventspils and Jelgava for Latvia. Latvia can use its own weather data (LVĢMC). Slovakia, Czech Republic, and Hungary use NOAA data. Thanks! 迷斯拉10032号 (talk) 14:02, 17 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Precipitation day threshold changes

[edit]

I have noticed that you've recently changed the precipitation day thresholds for Turkish cities that already have MGM data. The Turkish standard for precipitation days are 0.1mm, and as long as we have data using 0.1mm we should be using that. Uness232 (talk) 13:42, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
