Immortal Songs
[edit]I noticed you changed most of the numbering on the episodes of "Immortal Songs: Singing the Legend". I am sure that took some time to fix and I don't want to revert your changes without an explanation... I've been editing this page for all of 2022 so I'm well aware of the issues regarding the episode numbering. If you check the Korean Wikipedia version of the page, it had the same numbering as the English version (before you changed it). From what I saw, you started changing episodes from 344 but that episode is not the problem. The main issue comes from episode 515 as it had Michael Jackson as the legend and copyright issues with the songs did not allow KBS to release the episode internationally and if you check the video list in the KBS website, the episode is also not there. From that point, all episodes did not follow the right numbering because nobody outside of Korea saw episode 515 (KBS has some clips of the episode on the KBS World Youtube page but not the full episode) and instead of skipping the number and going from 514 to 516, KBS numbered what should have been episode 516 as episode 515 causing the numbering mess. I explained some of that in a footnote on the episode count (footnote "a") so The same thing just happened with episode 574 (or episode 573 if we don't count the Michael Jackson one) as it had famous drama OSTs being sung and KBS hasn't included it on their website at all and it hasn't been translated by Kocowa or Rakuten Viki at all, but instead of changing the numbering, this time they did skip the number.
I didn't want to just revert your changes without a reason as I'm sure you spent some time making them... Maybe one of the Wikipedia moderators can comment on what would be a good solution. 189.207.60.166 (talk) 14:40, 26 September 2022 (UTC)
- The thing is I took the numbers directly from the official website [1], episode 344 as it was on the page, was never numbered. It was skipped in the sequence [2]. It made the most sense to me for it to try to follow KBS's original rather than KOCOWA (which has some hilarious numbering things in that I've seen things from the same 30 min episode for other shows numbered different episodes). My changes matches the official KBS website as far as I can tell.
- As for the Michael Jackson skip [3] The skip is episode 514. MJ episode is numbered 514, it just doesn't show up. I disagree that this is where the numbering issue (I fixed) is. I mean that is a numbering issue, yes. What I changed tho, was a different issue.
- Or are you saying that it's supposed to be numbered based on KOCOWA/Viki?? I'm confused now.... TabbyCallie (talk) 07:58, 27 September 2022 (UTC)
- Oh and I forgot to add, it didn't take that much time through the magic of Google Sheets and regex. If you check the site as I see it and hopefully clarify even more what you mean I have absolutely no problem with my edits being reverted. I'm not trying to be difficult or prove I'm right, I'm truly confused. TabbyCallie (talk) 08:05, 27 September 2022 (UTC)
- I'm not so sure myself. I know that what appears on KBS should be the official numbering but given the pictures you added in here the issue does seem to be from episode 344. It is just confusing because they used to split the episodes so there are two videos for episode 513 for example but the videos are from the same day and that happens a lot in previous episodes. I don't think Kocowa or Rakuten Viki should be the main source of numbering because they just provide access to international viewers but should follow the KBS order (in theory). Last week the issue happened again... episode 573 with the drama OSTs vocal queens special aired in Korea (there some clips on the regular KBS Youtube channel) but it was not dubbed and it was not released anywhere just like the MJ special. And KBS skipped it completely in the episode numbering so it went from 572 to 574 in their website and Kocowa and Viki also don't have it but I'm not sure why it wasn't released (maybe copyright issues with the dramas perhaps?).
- I really don't know why I took over the duties of updating the episodes haha... but I went with the Korean Wikipedia version and just translated the songs and singers on each episode, so I took the episode numbering directly from them to keep consistency. But all your arguments are right so I think it should just stay like that. 189.207.60.166 (talk) 14:45, 27 September 2022 (UTC)
