The article Marc O. Dagenais has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group or service and which would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Etienne Drapeau, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Deletion of Marc Dagenais

[edit]

Hey, I was just wondering what exactly was the problem with this article... I'm rather new to this site so if you could provide a more detailed explanation rather than just "it is not acceptable according to the deletion policy"... thanks —The preceding unsigned comment was added by TSchabbs (talkcontribs) 15:45, 26 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Hi, have a look at the policy notability and in particular the point - A topic is notable if it has been the subject of non-trivial coverage in multiple reliable secondary sources that are independent of the subject. - Ctbolt 00:34, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thats's exactly what I don't understand, is it the references part, because if so I can edit it and add some sources where he can be found, but I've looked at other people who are on wikipedia and I think this looks the same as them all. I wrote about his background and what he does, and I don't see how this is any different from any other people on wikipedia. I don't know if you can tell me what part exactly i can change because i really don't have a clue what's wrong... if you have time could you get back to me on that, it would be greatly appreciated. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by TSchabbs (talkcontribs) 16:09, 27 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]
ok, at the moment the article looks like advertising, especially with the use of the two references which are just adverts for Marc. Wikipedia is not an advertising service. One of the tests for inclusion of an article in Wikipedia is notability. In my reply above the non-trivial coverage relates to newspapers like The Gazette, La Presse, Le Journal de Montréal or Le Devoir. Find an article in these, or similar newspapers, that relate to Marc. And the part about 'independent' of the subject is if the newspaper has an article but it was sent in as a profile / advertising piece similar to the bodybuilding.com entry - this also may not be acceptable. Of the other people on Wikipedia that have an article similar to Marc could you give some examples? So in summary find references on the web about Marc from newspaper articles that show he is 'notable' - Ctbolt 01:51, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
