About COI

[edit]

Hi there, I see you are Blitzen Trapper's manager. Just though I'd let you know about our conflict of interest guidelines. These don't preclude you from editing the BT article, but please be sure your edits are neutral and not promotional. Things look pretty good so far. Also check out the suggestion below. Thanks! Explanation

[edit]

It would been some time since I had seen the article so I had to go back to check - in short the article that was placed on that page was an unsourced stub article that violated wikipedia policies such as WP:NPOV, WP:COI, WP:V and WP:WEASEL among others. The article was written not in the tone of an encyclopedia article on the organisation but a gushing praise advertisement which read, as it was, by someone trying to gain promotion for the company which is not what wikipedia is for (WP:NOTADVERTISING). I have no opinion whatsoever whether the organisation merits an article on wikipedia, I can only go off the article as it was that was placed on the encyclopedia and as it violated all of those above and WP:SPEEDY delete criteria for both advertising (G11) and was unsourced without reference to third party notability (A7) it was to be deleted.

I would recommend, however, that if you are thinking of doing an article on the group I would strongly recommend otherwise as writing an article on an organisation you have a vested interest in violates WP:COI and leads to numerous problems in an articles sustainability. –– Lid(Talk) 01:42, 17 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Independent Online Distribution Alliance requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.) or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you.
