Hi, TMHPin. This is NOT some automated message...it's from a real person. You can talk to me right now. Welcome to Wikipedia! I noticed you've just joined, and wanted to give you a few tips to get you started. If you have any questions, please talk to us. The tips below should help you to get started. Best of luck!  Chzz  ►  14:12, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • You don't need to read anything - anybody can edit; just go to an article and edit it. Be Bold, but please don't put silly stuff in - it will be removed very quickly, and will annoy people.
  • Ask for help. Talk to us live, or edit this page, put {{helpme}} and describe what help you need. Someone will reply very quickly - usually within a few minutes.
  • Edit existing articles, before you make your own. Look at some subjects that you know about, and see if you can make them a bit better. For example, Wikipedia:Cleanup#2009.
  • When you're ready, read about Your first article. It should be about something well-known, and it will need references.

Good luck with editing; please drop me a line some time on my own talk page.

There's lots of information below. Once again, welcome to the fantastic world of Wikipedia!

Modern equipment of the British Army

[edit]

No I did not check but then again I did not remove it. I created a new section of the article Infantry section equipment where this information was previously had nothing to do with small arms all you had to do was read the article. --Jim Sweeney (talk) 16:08, 29 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Honourable Artillery Company

[edit]

Hi there I thought I'd drop you a note to discuss this. I can't see why you reverted my simple and correct change of removing the "The" from the blue panel on our page.

Your comment was "(rv unref'd change to longstanding text)" however just because a text is longstanding it doesn't mean it is correct.

The name of the Regiment is "Honourable Artillery Company" and so the "The" is incorrect.

See also, by way of example, similar pages like:

Royal Monmouthshire Royal Engineers not "The Royal ...."

Grenadier Guards not "The Grenadier Guards ..."

However, The Blues and Royals are The Blues and Royals

I am in the HAC and have been for a long time, and, interestingly enough this has been brought up internally to correct notices and paperwork containing the incorrect "The" in titles of things.

Hope this clarifies things.

Regards
