[edit]Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to List of television programs based on films. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. magnius (talk) 12:06, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for File:2218768231.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:2218768231.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. FASTILYsock (TALK) 07:24, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

Re-creating deleted categories
[edit]If you go to create a category, and you see a pink bar at the top with deletion information, it's usually a good idea to think twice about creating the category, because the pink bar means it was deleted previously. Often, it was deleted as a result of a consensus to delete it. I bring this up because you recently re-created Category:Fantastic Four films, which was deleted as a result of consensus and re-deleted again before you re-created it. This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Aquaman (DC animated universe), and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://superherouniverse.com/art/showphoto.php?photo=2307. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details.
This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 08:17, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Aquaman (DC animated universe)
[edit]A tag has been placed on Aquaman (DC animated universe) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. The article Legion of Doom (Filmation) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Amounts to an OR list of character appearances. The shows listed were produced by Filmation, not Hanna-Barbera which first handled the Legion of Doom concept. The appearances pre-date (late 1960s) the Legion of Doom concept (1978).
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. J Greb (talk) 19:08, 16 January 2010 (UTC)

The article Legion of Doom (Batman: The Brave and the Bold) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Amounts to an OR list of character appearances based on the assumption that a grouping of characters in one episode looked like the Legion of Doom so the must have been the Legion of Doom. This list also includes a character that is only referenced in passing in one episode (Riddler) and one that has to be assumed to be a reinterpretation of a LoD character (Fun Haus).

The article Legion of Doom (Super Friends) in other media has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- OR list created shortly after Legion of Doom (The Batman), Legion of Doom (Batman: The Brave and the Bold), Legion of Doom (DC Universe Original Animated Movies), and Legion of Doom (Filmation) were PRODed and Legion of Doom (DC animated universe) was suggested to be pruned and merged back to the parent article, Legion of Doom (Super Friends). This was created by the author of the PRODed articles, which he was advised of prior to the creation of this.

Regarding the LoD PRODs
[edit]Actually, if you look at all 5 of the PRODs the problem is that you are creating articles/lists based on your interpretation of the source material.
This isn't a case of "one or the other" it's a case of "None. It's inappropriate."
- J Greb (talk) 00:31, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
- Which articles exactly did you cut Legion of Doom (The Batman), Legion of Doom (Batman: The Brave and the Bold), Legion of Doom (DC Universe Original Animated Movies), and Legion of Doom (Filmation) from? - J Greb (talk) 00:35, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
- So, you decided, that even though the concept of the concept of the LoD doesn't really exist with in thiese 2 shows and 2 sets of works, that there should be LoD articles because the characters appeared as that team in one show and refrences to that show were made in one season of a later show and selected stroies published by DC Comics.
- Have I got that right?
- - J Greb (talk) 00:44, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
- If the LoD concept isn't present in those 4 circumstances - and with the Filmation material it cannot be in any way, shape, or form - then creating articles to link characters present in them based on the LoD is OR - at best. - J Greb (talk) 00:52, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
- OK...
- This isn't related to the validity of Legion of Doom (Super Friends) existing.
- By name the LoD was a creation for the 3rd Super Friends series. The concept of a team of villains culled from specific heroes rogues galleries did exist in material published by DC Comics prior to 1978.
- The Filmation shows are independent of and pre-date Hanna-Barbara's. Licensing the same characters does not equate to Filmation using the LoD concept.
- With out a specific reference, none the stand alone, original, direct to DVD, DC Universe films have used the LoD premise.
- Since they are stand alone films - no unifying continuity - the use or cameo appearance of characters does not support the concept of the LoD being present.
- Of the DCAU, The Batman, and Batman: The Brave and the Bold, only the DCAU has a reliable source for the LoD being used or homaged. And since that source only deals with a specific story arc, only that arc should be dealt with. Incorporating plot summaries from other episodes, or shows, is, to be polite, tangential. Hence the proposal to prune and merge the DCAU LoD article.
- "In other media", as it is used with the comic book related articles means just that - The subject of this article was used by name or adapted as shown by references for these shows/films/games/whatever. For it to work with a team, the team has to be present in the adaptation, not just a list of appearances of character associated with the team.
- - J Greb (talk) 01:18, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
- OK...
- If the LoD concept isn't present in those 4 circumstances - and with the Filmation material it cannot be in any way, shape, or form - then creating articles to link characters present in them based on the LoD is OR - at best. - J Greb (talk) 00:52, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
- First off...
- "My point is that Challenge of the Super Friends marked the first time that there was such a thing as the "Legion of Doom".
- Please read my comments. I was pointing to the LoD concept - the team - not the individual characters.
- Injustice Gang - Justice League of America #111 (May-Jun 1974)
- Injustice Society - All Star Comics #37 (Oct-Nov 1947)
- Secret Society of Super Villains - Secret Society of Super Villains #1 (May 1976)
- Those are among the DC cases. At Marvel there are things like Lethal Legion (1970) and Masters of Evil (1964). And that limiting it to the publisher putting together a villain team from already existing characters to face off against a team of heroes drawn from other books. There are also examples of the rouges gallery of a hero, villains that normally work solo, banding together as a team for one or more stories.
- "Again, I'm pointing more to the individual core characters' featured appearances on on particular show/continuity. And again, I addressed that just because said characters appeared doesn't necessary mean that they also worked together a la the Legion of Doom on Super Friends."
- That sounds like "I grouped these characters together based on a faulty pretext". If the LoD is not needed, it shouldn't be part of the article. If it is relevant, then applying it to a show; a film; a set of related shows or films; or a set of unrelated shows or films where it was never an element is grouping characters randomly.
- - J Greb (talk) 01:47, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
- First off...
J Greb is right - this is a problem on a number of different levels:
- The appearance of a team should be discussed within the article - if it is in the same media but not the same team then in a section called "alternate versions" and if in other media then the obvious "in other media." If these sections get too big then they can be split off after appropriate debate if there is any concern about this.
- However, a lot of these articles don't involve the team, they are about the appearance on individual members of the team in the different shows. This is reshuffling information from the character's "in other media" sections/articles and that information is best kept there.
So this is far from the best approach to the material, which already has its own well-defined place to be and replicating the information using a range of difficult-to-justify criteria is not helpful.
This itself is just the most obvious example among the dozens of articles you are creating at the moment, and which are being deleted almost as fast for the reasons I (and J Greb) mention. You should think carefully about these articles before creating them and, if need be, consult people on whether it is a good idea or not. At the moment you are wasting a lot of people's time, as people are having to follow along behind you removing articles with very broad, vague or unwise inclusion criteria. Could I ask that you pause this activity for a while and see how the results of the various AfDs and PRODs turn out, as you could be quite well wasting your own time, as well as that of others. (Emperor (talk) 02:59, 19 January 2010 (UTC))
- Except it isn't just us, looking down your talk page there are numerous AfDs, PRODs and speedy deletions of a large number of articles. I'm not worried about you wasting my time but I am concerned you might be wasting yours, if a large proportion of your articles end up getting deleted because you've not taken the time to consider whether they meet the criteria for inclusion here. (Emperor (talk) 00:19, 23 January 2010 (UTC))
