This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Peter Schechter, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.heatherfreeman.com/webpage/peterschechter/Peter%20Schechter%20Bio.doc. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. Hello. Concerning your contribution, Peter Schechter, please note that Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted text or images obtained from other web sites or printed material, without the permission of the author(s). This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.heatherfreeman.com/webpage/peterschechter/Peter%20Schechter%20Bio.doc. As a copyright violation, Peter Schechter appears to qualify for deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. Peter Schechter has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message.

If you believe that the article or image is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author, leave a message explaining the details at Talk:Peter Schechter and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Peter Schechter with a link to where we can find that note.
  • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on Talk:Peter Schechter.

However, for textual content, you may simply consider rewriting the content in your own words. Thank you. De728631 (talk) 19:07, 25 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 11:12, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Schechter

[edit]

Thanks for your work to make sure that you follow the rules :-) Aside from copyright problems, please let me note: anything written by Schechter about himself is a conflict of interest, and is likely to fail our neutral point of view problems, completely aside from concerns about his notability.

As far as getting the text released: what you'll have to do is make sure that the text gets put back online at the same URL where it was posted before, and a notice will have to be posted there with a copyright notice: either the note will have to state that it's public domain or that it's released under some license. If you make it public domain, it would be best to copy/paste the text from the appropriate public domain template (I'm going to guess {{PD-author}}, if Schechter is trying to release it; if he doesn't want to release it, and if you're not he, you may not release it like this) and post it on the webpage. If you'd rather release it on some other license, select the appropriate license from this page: you'd probably do best to copy/paste the text and add a link to the full text of the licenses, since they generally are a bit longer than you'd want to post on your page. For example, if you'd like to use {{GFDL}}, you should add a link to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Text_of_the_GNU_Free_Documentation_License. Remember: for this to be valid, you must receive Mr Schechter's permission; copyright can't be transferred away from him without his permission. Nyttend (talk) 11:30, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Are you Schechter? I had the impression from your words that they were written by Schechter; if I misunderstood (i.e. Schechter isn't the author), or if you are Schechter, you have the right to use the PD-author. If you are Schechter, please don't say so on here; go to my user page and click "email this user", so that your identity won't be posted on your userpage. Yes, I saw your email, and I've replied to it. One thing: you must put the text of the public domain notice on your original page: not the Wikipedia article, but the original page that you'll need to restore, http://www.heatherfreeman.com/webpage/peterschechter/Peter%20Schechter%20Bio.doc. You could also restore that heatherfreeman.com page with a note saying something like "Previous editions of this document are released into the public domain", but you must have a note at that URL. Copyvio warning

[edit]

You ahve again posted the same article that was deleted yesterday as a copyright violation. If you continue like this, you will be blocked. Fram (talk) 13:32, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am in the process of approving the text with Nyttend, as I am the owner of the texts, but thanks for your concerns for copyright. Szadok (talk) 13:40, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
As I replied on my talk page (after a post from Nyttend), please first release the text in the PD, and only then post it on Wikipedia. Furthermore, please be aware that the text will be thoroughly rewritten once it appears on Wikipedia, to make it more neutral and externally verifiable. Fram (talk) 13:45, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've now done a first rewrite to remove the most blatant POV sentences. A lot more is needed though. Fram (talk) 13:54, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
