User talk:Syrcatbot
Syrcatbot is an account maintained by User:Syrthiss. It operates only on the english wikipedia, using AutoWikiBrowser to do recategorizations in support of Categories for Deletion. Syrcatbot is entirely supervised, as I am the one hitting the button to do the cut and paste for the categories.
I wanted to begin using Syrcatbot for several reasons:
- I've been doing a ton of recategorizations with my Syrthiss account, and I feel that clutters up my contributions list.
- I can set my preferences with Syrcatbot so that I don't load images (to reduce server resources)
- With a bot flag, all my recategorizations won't show up in Special:Recentchanges
- I don't run the risk of my main account being blocked for editing at bot-like speeds. While Syrthiss is an admin account and I could unblock myself, I'd rather avoid having to unblock myself or ask another admin to do so.
NOTE - Please leave me messages at User talk:Syrthiss. Leaving me a message here crashes my bot, tho that may be useful if you can't get my attention as Syrthiss and the bot is going insane. Thanks! Syrcatbot 17:10, 28 April 2006 (UTC)

Automated message to bot owners
[edit]As a result of discussion on the village pump and mailing list, bots are now allowed to edit up to 15 times per minute. The following is the new text regarding bot edit rates from Wikipedia:Bot Policy:
Until new bots are accepted they should wait 30-60 seconds between edits, so as to not clog the recent changes list and user watchlists. After being accepted and a bureaucrat has marked them as a bot, they can edit at a much faster pace. Bots doing non-urgent tasks should edit approximately once every ten seconds, while bots who would benefit from faster editing may edit approximately once every every four seconds.
Also, to eliminate the need to spam the bot talk pages, please add Wikipedia:Bot owners' noticeboard to your watchlist. Future messages which affect bot owners will be posted there. Thank you. --Mets501 05:09, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
