]] Hello Swt tarrash. Why are the references unreliable please? (Jacobandtotty (talk) 16:42, 31 October 2012 (UTC))[reply]

On the point of declining after 17 seconds of previous declination, both of the submissions were open with me. I reviewed both of them and found issues and decided to decline both of them at the same time. Please note that it was not just random declining. Relating to your concern about the declined page, I personally feel that the topic and its content (as they stand now) are not much notable, unless you can support it by some extra details or by providing extra (first hand) references. Also, note that my judgement is what I think. If you feel otherwise, you can surely 'undo' what I did.--Swt tarrash (talk) 04:07, 25 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for this explanation, and I apologise for mentioning the timing. Yes, the sourcing is borderline, which is why I haven't moved it into mainspace myself. I don't have access to the first source, which is the only substantial coverage that Jacobandtotty has come up with. -- John of Reading (talk) 07:03, 25 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! The revelation of the true meaning of the term "cross road" on the legends of old maps is important to all researchers who are trying to correct the Definitive Map by changing the wrongly allocated "footpath" status applied to an illustrated route to the more accurate "bridleway" or "restricted byway" status. This is noteworthy because it affects the public's freedom to travel on horseback on roads that are and have been public highways for horse traffic since they came into being. Because many are wrongly recorded as mere "footpaths" on the definitive map they are currently blocked to the public on horseback and on bicycles by stiles, gates and fences. Landowners and local authorities are unwilling to open them up without a Definitive Map Modification Order which can be made upon the production of evidence that the depiction on an old map of a "cross road" meant a highway for horses and wheeled traffic and not merely for pedistrians. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jacobandtotty (talkcontribs) 15:22, 25 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
