Ralakan Corollary
[edit]Hi There: however well the (short) article is written it is still a direct attack on President Bush, and as such qualifies for a speedy tag whatever you may think about the President. I di not change the tag back, because this is not approved of, but thought about it. Would you like to think about it?--Anthony.bradbury 21:49, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
- In my opinion, it is not an attack on president bush because it, well, doesn't attack president Bush. It merely describes a phenomenon in which web discussions tend to degrade into a flame-fest where people start bashing the president. It'll get deleted anyways (I hope).--SweetNeo85 21:54, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
Star (symbol) and Star polygon
[edit]Hi. I see you've removed my new stub only minutes after I created it. You have not left any comment or explanation. I'm going to put this back, since I'm still trying to work on it, and it's pretty hard to work on a non-existent article.
Now a star polygon is a geometric term, describing a star where all the lines are straight and lines cross through the middles. The five-point star image in my stub, for instance, is not a star polygon, but a concave decagon. I believe we could do with an article that discusses the symbol in symbolic and ideographic terms, rather than purely geometric terms.
Regardless, please leave the stub extant at least long enough for me to keep working on it. I need to move some stuff from Pentagram to its more appropriate location. Thanks, Fuzzypeg☻ 06:37, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply. No problem. Cheers! Fuzzypeg☻ 22:31, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit]- Note that I've redirected WebcomicsNation.com to an earlier article on the same topic, Webcomics Nation. Obviously, if the earlier article doesn't meet your standards, then feel free to speedy that as well. -- Dragonfiend 04:11, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

Where does it say that?
[edit]You said: "You've repeatedly insisted that the free image of Jessica Albe must be used when there is a free image present, no matter how crappy the quality. I was reading through the copyright policies and all that, and couldn't find that particular policy mentioned anywhere. I am not trying to imply that you don't know what you're talking about. Really. I just wondered where I could find this rule so that I can better educate myself on these policies. By the way, I'm currently working on getting my picture released to the public domain, because it's not really being used anywhere else."
- Check out WP:FAIR. The policy section, first point, "No free equivalent is available or could be created". Now, you may argue that the other image is so low quality as to not give the same information which is possibly true, but note that a free photograph could still be taken. In any case, we fail the first point. --Yamla 22:34, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
Battles of Mackinac (War of 1812)
[edit]Thanks for your comments. The original article contained information both on the island's capture in 1812 and the American attempt to recapture it in 1814. Since the two battles were two years apart, I feel they ought to merit separate articles. (For example, see the treatment of the Battle of Lacolle Mills (1812) and Battle of Lacolle Mills (1814)).
I am currently working on the article for the Siege of Detroit. The capture of Mackinac Island in 1812 had an important influence on this, but anyone following the link would find a confusing reference in the information box to events in 1814. I think a separate article for the action in 1812 would clarify matters. HLGallon 18:01, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Hi there: although {{not encyclopedic}} should in my opinion be a reason for speedy delete, in fact at present it is not. I have added a {{db-nonsense}} tag to this article; you are of course quite right in wanting it gone.--Anthony.bradbury 22:19, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
Let me know . . .
[edit]. . . if you want to be notified of Afds. My focus is on deleting 9/11 conspiracy theory cruft and political articles that are cesspools of POV. Also, I maintain a "should be nominated for Afd" section on my userpage that often listens current Afds. Happy editing! Morton devonshire 05:21, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
Just as an FYI, the db tag in place on this article was not "improper" -- at the time of its being placed, the article made no assertion of the group's notability. After placing the {{nn-warn}} template on the creator's talk page, he inserted some false notability. It's not a big deal--I've now prodded it as failing WP:NFT, WP:V, and WP:N--but I was kinda hoping we could get rid of it more quickly. Thanks! -- Merope 22:44, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
I can inform you that this band is A HOAX. I entered Wikipedia at school, and did not log out, so my username remained open. Somebody else has accessed my account and created this. I am sorry for the inconvenience caused. It can be removed, I had no knowledge of it being created. Sorry for this slip-up, I will remember to logout in future when on a school system. [edit]Hi. Cut & Paste moves are frowned upon, because that leaves the edit history of an article behind. If there's already a page with the name you want, you can post a request on Wikipedia:Requested moves for an administrator to delete or move that page to make room. —wwoods 19:25, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

My edit in "Once upon a time in China"
[edit]I receive a message from you saying that I am vandalising the page. May I know what attributed the "vandalism"? I have changed most of the "Aunt Yee" to "Aunt Thirteenth" because in the original chinese text, this is exactly the meaning of the word. The word "Yee" as heard from the movie, refers to the meaning "Aunt". So if you have "Aunt Yee", it would effectively means "Aunt Aunt". The original chinese words were "十三姨" (Shi San Yee), which means "Thirteenth Aunt". 203.126.184.126 04:22, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
Got your message. No problem at all :). Also, I forgot to login. 203.126.184.126 04:26, 11 September 2006 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:MatrixCodeCloseUp.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:MatrixCodeCloseUp.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 14:43, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
Links at bottom of your user page
[edit]Hello. I found some improperly formatted links to your email address and MySpace page at the end of your page, which I changed to normal. The [[name|text]] syntax should only be used when linking within Wikipedia. External links are formatted as so: [address text], with a space in between. For example, [http://www.apple.com/ Apple] becomes Apple. Also, a URL leading to an email address is of the form mailto:address, with no space. For example, [mailto:president@whitehouse.gov Email the President of the United States] becomes Email the President of the United States (I'm not sure if that still works; I saw it in an almanac). Hope this helps. - PGSONIC (talk) 23:59, 12 January 2008 (UTC)
