Re: Chimney fire
[edit]Yo, thanks for starting such an in-depth, well-written article on chimney fires. Just so you know, it automatically got tagged by a bot for needed wikification, which, thanks to the wonders of collaborative writing, has since been done (you can view the changes I made in the article's edit history).
The main reason that I replaced the {{Wikify}} template with {{Verify}} is that only one source is cited, which isn't quite up to Wikipedia's standards of verifiability. Don't fret, though -- I'm not accusing you making anything up, nor am I about to recommend the article's deletion in the immediate future. Rather, I was simply wondering if you could provide where you got the information, or point out any useful sources you know on the subject, so as to help other Wikipedians confirm the information and thereby improve the article. Again, thanks so much for your contributions, and don't hesitate to consult Wikipedia:Help, if you have any questions, and the Help Desk if nothing else has answered them. Re:Above
[edit]First of all, you might want to see WP:RELAX. (I say this based on your comment in the Chimney fire talkpage). Secondly, I apologize for having made a rather stupid mistake — my above comment should have gone on this talk page, not your user page, which is meant only for you to edit — see Wikipedia:User page. Thirdly, it's reccomended that you sign talkpages with four successive tildes (like this: ~~~~). This will generate your name and a helpful link to your user page. Finally, don't worry about finding sources if you don't know any — presumably, if the phenomena you are dicusssing are true, they are well-documented, and someone will be able to find sources on them. However, your experience alone isn't considered sufficient evidence by Wikipedia standards; see WP:No original research.
Help on editing can be found at Wikipedia:Wikify, but here's some starter tips: links to other Wikipedia articles are generated by two brackets on either side; [[Example]] generates Example. External links — those which go to pages outside Wikipedia, plus certain Wikipedia pages, are made with single brackets: [http://www.google.com/ Google] generates this: Google. To make italic text, use two apostraphes: ''example'' makes example. Three apostraphes give you emboldening: '''example''' makes example. Hope that all helps, and one again, thanks for contributing! It will take me a while to digest all this info. I am pursuing a photo as even though I've witnessed many myself, I never took photos as my objective was to put them out. Will add one as soon as available. --Surryroger 16:51, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
- Of course; that tends to be a fault of mine, sorry. It's all good :-) Lenoxus " * " 03:53, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
License tagging for Image:Chimney Fire,Marlboro Vt.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Chimney Fire,Marlboro Vt.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit]Unspecified source/license for Image:Green wood visual comparison.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Green wood visual comparison.jpg. I'm trying to mark the image I uploaded as gfdl-self, but it keeps getting flagged by a bot? I can't seem to figure out the trick even though I've stared at the Image help pages till I'm cross eyed. Roger
- First of all, please sign your posts (see WP:SIG). Also, it looks fine to me now, but you might want to add a source. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshells • Otter chirps • HELP) 20:59, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
