User talk:Surfwater
Request an editor review the sandbox article before moving to become a Wikipedia Article. Thank you. Trying to be bold and also follow the rules. Enjoy helping to edit other wikipedia pages. Will start adding Infoboxes. Thank you Surfwater (talk) 03:04, 3 January 2021 (UTC)

[edit]Hello Surfwater. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Surfwater, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.
Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.
Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Surfwater. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Surfwater|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}
. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. User:Surfwater/sandbox scope_creepTalk 11:38, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
Hello editor,
In reply to the response, please note I am not a paid employee or connected to Surfwater. I know about the company, and was trying to connect its interest to current events regarding single use plastics. There is a growing movement, and it seemed right to discuss the connection, and keep it neutral (including other water brand companies). Many other water brand pages cover other material related to their product. Since I am a new writer to Wikipedia, I was trying to follow the rules regarding neutrality, correct citation, finding reliable legitimate references and it can be very confusing. And I am a surfer who is sick and tired of cleaning up plastics in the water, on the beach and am trying to further educate people. I will delete information about Single Use Plastics and just keep the content related to the water brand. Surfwater (talk) 16:48, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
- Hi @Surfwater: Thanks for that. I read your article in the sandbox and it looked like a company brochure. Can you please remove the external links in the body of the article. scope_creepTalk 19:09, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
Hello editor, thank you for the insight and information. Yes, I can remove the external links. Apologize if it sounded like a company brochure, and I am not trying to write a company article, so thank you. Looking at other wikipedia pages helps, but there is a learning curve. Thank you again, Surfwater (talk) 02:12, 4 January 2021 (UTC)
Hello Editor, I deleted the external sites and reduced the information. I made sure there was an InfoBox. On Wikipedia articles, I read up on how to correctly Move the article from the sandbox, changed the title and now I see a Redirect message. I believe I have completed the correct steps to move the article from sandbox. Thank you, Surfwater (talk) 14:18, 4 January 2021 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Surfwater
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Draft:Surfwater, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. —moonythedwarf (Braden N.) 20:01, 5 January 2021 (UTC)

at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:
- Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
- Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
- Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
{{unblock|Your reason here}}
at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. GeneralNotability (talk) 20:02, 5 January 2021 (UTC)
