Sockpuppet investigation

[edit]

Hi. An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Suntrax south, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.

Hi, I am not sure exactly what to do or where to answer such claims. I did have an account a number of years ago with a similar user name along the lines of Suntrax however I had lost the password and have not been able to retrieve it due to losing access to the email address linked to the wikipedia account. Can this be proven some way or will my current account be deleted?— Preceding unsigned comment added by Suntrax south (talkcontribs) 18:42, 3 June 2014‎

Hi. I suggest you post your comment to the investigation page, Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Suntrax south. It's the proper place for it and there are people there with more experience and the relevant tools who may be able to help with deleting or blocking your old account.--JohnBlackburnewordsdeeds 19:16, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
In case you didn't notice the case was moved to Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/SunTrax and then the case was closed, because as you said, there was no abuse and no one had edited from the old account in some years. So, no further action about that is required from you. --Bejnar (talk) 00:38, 4 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

How to avoid instant deletion

[edit]

One good way to build an article that avoids instant deletion attempts is to do so in your sandbox, User:Suntrax south/sandbox/new article. Then when the article is ready, it can be moved into the article space. That gives you the benefit of all the Wikipedia tools without raising any ire among other editors, at least until you are ready. --Bejnar (talk) 00:34, 4 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
