Hello there. I notice that a lot of newcomers are editing Thalassery biryani. Is this a school project? Are you all related? Just curious. You don't have to answer. Let me know if I can help. Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 07:54, 18 July 2013 (UTC)
- not all, one of them is my friend, thanks for the effort. It is prominent dish in Kerala in South India, I am a cooking enthusiast :-) and it is just an effort to create an awareness about the correct content of the dish. Most of the restaurants and hotels in distant places sell some other variants of the dish in the name of Thalassry biriyani. So it could help people to distinguish. If possible please do grammatical corrections if any. I would also like to ask your opinion to add the Indian cuisine template to this page (Thalassery biryani)as it is a famous South Indian dish.
- I need your help if possible. I would like to add a photo to the page Thalassery biriyani. I am not aware about the copyright rules of flicker.com. I have found three photos of the dish from flicker. Can you please check whether it is possible to use these photographs in wikipedia.
- Please check the links
- Hello there. Unfortunately all three images have "All Rights Reserved". I also looked last week and found none. Perhaps you can use your camera and take a picture. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:05, 18 July 2013 (UTC)
i thought about that but its too costly to make. I'll try when any occasion comes.
I would also like to ask your opinion to add the Indian cuisine template to this page (Thalassery biryani)as it is a famous South Indian dish.

[edit]Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:
- Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
- With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.
This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Please take a look at Pisco Sour, one of the featured articles on Food-related topics to get ideas on how to improve the Biryani article to higher standard. — Ganeshk (talk) 16:41, 4 August 2013 (UTC)
Thank you very much, in fact now I was studying on how the article L'incoronazione di Poppea is made. Pisco Sour could be a better suitable example for me to learn. --Sunaina Kunju (talk) 16:48, 4 August 2013 (UTC)
Here are few more Good article examples. WP:GA process is less stringent than WP:FA, you should try to get the Biryani article to GA standard (green star on the top right). Hyderabadi haleem is a good Indian example. — Ganeshk (talk) 17:18, 4 August 2013 (UTC)
Thank you I will look at these will put my level best to improve.--Sunaina Kunju (talk) 17:55, 4 August 2013 (UTC)

Thalassery
[edit]The town's name has always been pronounced Thalassery in Malayalam, the anglicised form Tellicherry was the official name until 2001, when it was changed to Thalassery in order to match Malayalam pronunciation. The same is the case for the cities of Madras and Calcutta which were called locally since several centuries as Chennai and Kolkata. Malayala Sahityam (talk) 13:22, 19 September 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for the message. First of all you are expected to discuss this in the talk page of the page 'Thalassery' before undoing the edit so that other opinions can be reflected and also as you are reverting the change the second time. I hope you are aware that Wikipedia do not promote 'Edit Wars'. I have written clearly in comments that the place was formerly known as Tellicherry as well as Thalassery. For reference you can check the photograph of the railway name board in the page itself. In it, this is engraved as 'Thalassery' in Malayalam and 'Tellicherry" in English. The painting above the engraving Tellicherry is written as "Thalassery". So this shows that your 'Good faith Editing' and the comments saying that that the 'official name' was formerly 'only' Tellicherry is incorrect. Understand that the meaning of a.k.a (also known as) is that the place was formerly known as Tellicherry as well as Thalassery i.e. both the names coexisted at the same time for this place in 'government records'. I hope this clears your doubt. So please revert the change.
P.S: Please do research about the origin of the name Chennai and Madras before giving comments; it will help you to understand that the etymologies of Chennai and Thalassery do not have any similarity however you can relate Thalassery's etymology with a place within Chennai named Triplicane(Thiruvallikeni). Thanks Sunaina Kunju (talk) 20:31, 20 September 2015 (UTC)
