Administrators' newsletter – May 2024
News and updates for administrators from the past month (April 2024).
- Phase I of the 2024 requests for adminship review has concluded. Several proposals have passed outright and will proceed to implementation, including creating a discussion-only period (3b) and administrator elections (13) on a trial basis. Other successful proposals, such as creating a reminder of civility norms (2), will undergo further refinement in Phase II. Proposals passed on a trial basis will be discussed in Phase II, after their trials conclude. Further details on specific proposals can be found in the full report.
- Partial action blocks are now in effect on the English Wikipedia. This means that administrators have the ability to restrict users from certain actions, including uploading files, moving pages and files, creating new pages, and sending thanks. T280531
- The arbitration case Conflict of interest management has been closed.
- This may be a good time to reach out to potential nominees to ask if they would consider an RfA.
- A New Pages Patrol backlog drive is happening in May 2024 to reduce the number of unreviewed articles in the new pages feed. Currently, there is a backlog of over 15,000 articles awaiting review. Sign up here to participate!
- Voting for the Universal Code of Conduct Coordinating Committee (U4C) election is open until 9 May 2024. Read the voting page on Meta-Wiki and cast your vote here!
Reminder to vote now to select members of the first U4C

Article moved to draftspace, then recreated
Hi SunDawn. A few hours ago, you moved SV Victoria Seelow to draftspace as it contained no sources indicating notability. Ten minutes after that, the article creator recreated the article. That seems to disruptive to me. Is this something for AN/I? Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 11:02, 9 May 2024 (UTC)
- Hello Robby! Thank you for your message. I do think going to AN/I is too harsh as the editor added the sources indicating notability on the recreated article anyway. I do think the user is acting in good faith - maybe they didn't know that the correct procedure is to edit the article in draftspace and then resubmit the article. Thank you. ✠ SunDawn ✠ (contact) 14:39, 9 May 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply, SunDawn. I have edited my message on the editor's Talk page to inform them about the correct procedure.
the editor added the sources indicating notability on the recreated article anyway
The three sources added since draftication do not indicate notability at all, though. The first reference is the club's website. The second and third references are database entries. Robby.is.on (talk) 14:56, 9 May 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply, SunDawn. I have edited my message on the editor's Talk page to inform them about the correct procedure.
Responding to Philippine Airlines article deletion
Good evening, from February to around March I decided to expand on the list of Philippine Airlines incidents and accidents by adding new pages. I understand why the earliest accidents (1948 and 1950) have been proposed for deletion as they have had a lack of information. I have got the sources from Aviation Safety Net and other websites logging this crash, but haven't been able to find information in the sequence of events leading to the crash.
It's your choice if the 1948 Cebu Philippine Air Lines DC-3 crash article should be deleted. I haven't been able to find any further information for this anyway. WedgeWinglet (talk) 19:10, 9 May 2024 (UTC)
- Hello WedgeWinglet! I have removed the PROD tag from the 1948 Cebu Philippine Air Lines DC-3 crash article. It is not going to be deleted for now. I realized that it had a hull loss which can be seen as a notable event. Have a good day! ✠ SunDawn ✠ (contact) 14:06, 11 May 2024 (UTC)
Austrian Audio article
Hi, I noticed you approved Austrian Audio at the AFC process. The article is clearly written like an advertisement and even copies some sentences almost directly from the company website. Could you explain your reasoning for approving it despite these fairly clear issues? AlexandraAVX (talk) 08:22, 10 May 2024 (UTC)
- Hello Alexandra! Thank you for your message. Upon re-reading the article again, I do agree with you that some sentences are problematic, such as the use of words such as meticulously handcrafted and With a combined experience of over 350 years in engineering but I didn't think the article is clearly promotional. I do think that going for G11 is too much as the article, in my opinion, can be fixed by removing the pufferies. I am going to challenge the CSD, tag the article, and fix the article if I have the time to do so. Have a good day! ✠ SunDawn ✠ (contact) 08:30, 10 May 2024 (UTC)
Dear Camelia article
Hi SunDawn. My article Draft:Dear Camelia not been accepted. I got a really rude reply explaining why my article was rejected Which is not good. A non-profit mental health organization in Bangladesh that I wrote about in my article. Since I don't know them personally, I have no personal interest in writing about them. Their work is very well known in Bangladesh. WIKI is the place where they belong, so I think they should be added there. Prior to publishing my article, I reviewed similar articles, for example Kaan Pete Roi and Bidyanondo Foundation। These articles use the same type of news references. I don't understand why my article got rejected! মৌমিতা হাসান (talk) 16:57, 10 May 2024 (UTC)
- Hello! I apologized for your experience when editing in Wikipedia. The reason for the move to the draft - and further speedy deletion - is that the article is written like a promotional article. As I mentioned, the use of the references can still be discussed, but the tone of the writing is not encyclopaedic and it is too promotional in my opinion. You're very welcome to re-create the article, but please use less-promotional tone. If you have any questions, please do ask! Have a blessed day. ✠ SunDawn ✠ (contact) 14:12, 11 May 2024 (UTC)
New page review request
Hello, SunDawn. Please take a look at St. Anne's Church, Moxi if you have time. My sincere thanks! Uriel1022 (talk) 14:36, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
- I will take a look at it but no promises! Have a nice day! ✠ SunDawn ✠ (contact) 15:04, 14 May 2024 (UTC)
- Sure, I understand. Have a nice day, too! Uriel1022 (talk) 18:19, 14 May 2024 (UTC)
Update to template transcluded on your userpage
I wish to inform you that as a result of Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Template:User hate CCP, one of the userboxes on your user page has been modified. If you are content with this change, you may leave it as-is. If you dislike this change, you may remove the userbox, reword it, or replace it with something else, as long as you do not restore the word "hate" or another word that is likely to be similarly offensive. If you have any questions, you may ask me on my talk page. Best wishes, —Compassionate727 (T·C) 19:22, 14 May 2024 (UTC)

Progress Chapter Two: The March Of Progress deletion nomination
Hello. Thank you for previously encouraging me with creating wrestling-related articles. I have a request for you. I recently started working on a project which has the objective of documenting all of Progress Wrestling's Chapters from first to least with mainspace articles for each. However it wasn't too much until I stumbled upon a deletion tag for the second-ever event of this kind. The user blames the notability of the event and i tried to explain them that my idea is to somehow categorize all of these events as a book with pages. I tried to point out the best links to coverages which should be more than enough to demonstrate the event's notability. Is it possible that you could throw an eye on the situation or even help me out in the deletion debate? Looking forward to hearing from you. Regards! User:JeyReydar97 talk 21:56, 28 May 2024 (UTC)
