I need to create a new category and do not know how to do it. Can someone point me to the right place.
- What category are you going to create? --Addihockey10e-mail 13:55, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
- I was looking at creating a Cities and towns in India Stub
- There already is the stub template {{India-geo-stub}} and the category Category:India geography stubs, along with subcategories and stub templates for the states and territories of India, so you don't need to create a new category for this. If you need to create a category in the future, please read Help:Category for information on how to do so. Basically, new category pages are created the same way as any other page. Please let me know if there are any more questions. Thanks! --Mysdaao talk 16:43, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

stubs
[edit]It's not helpful to remove subject-specific stub tags and replace them by {{stub}} as you did here. Please don't. PamD (talk) 13:38, 6 January 2011 (UTC)
@PamD, I agree its normally not right. However the "stub" have to be meaningful else they defeat the purpose.
- In this case the stub was pointing to "Clothing" & "Fashion" which is totally incorrect. There is no stub category for "Collecting" as in hobby/ coin collection, there is one for card collectibles and hence I changed this to generic "Stub" and intend to propose a new stub category for collecting.Thnaks. Dheer (talk) 13:07, 12 January 2011 (UTC)
- But it just gets listed again in the "stubs" category, so someone else will just try to "stub-sort" it. Pins are something worn, and related to jewellery, clothing, etc. Yes, it would be useful if there was a general stub category for "collecting" or even for "hobbies", but you don't yet seem to have proposed it. And please note that even on your own talk page it's helpful to sign at the end, not the start, of a comment, and to use ~~~~ so that date and time show too. Your comment starting "Sudhir:" looks like a comment addressed to you, not by you! Thanks. PamD (talk) 18:53, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
@PamD, Agree and will keep a note of it in future. Thanks. Dheer (talk) 13:07, 12 January 2011 (UTC)
Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference
[edit]Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.
On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true
. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false
in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.
For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.
Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 18:37, 14 March 2011 (UTC)

This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution
[edit] Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Indian 100-rupee note into Indian 200-rupee note. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution
. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was copied, attribution is not required. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 13:52, 14 May 2018 (UTC)
