Best Word Book Ever Help!
Aren't you wonderful! This page means a lot to me. It was my favourite book when I was a kid and I was getting emotional trying to get it right! —Preceding unsigned comment added by IceDragon64 (talk • contribs) 00:12, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Girltrash Article
you tagged me for reposting data but I had to since the original data was deleted completely without allowing me even a minute to contest the deletion. It is unfair that I be tagged again just for following the rules of contesting! —Preceding unsigned comment added by PhilosopherSocrates (talk • contribs) 14:46, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
- It needed to be re-tagged, as it was reposting, and also for your contest to work. Before receiving this message, I have actually changed the tag to not notable. This should allow you to contest the deletion properly, especially as I have left the {{hangon}} tag there. :) Stwalkerster [ talk ] 14:49, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Re: Help me with table format
Hi! I've fixed it for you. You did not need to use 2 tables, so I've merged the tables for you, which has solved questions 1 and 3. Question 2 is different, and can be complicated - also I'm not sure how to do it. Also, you have to consider the manual of style - about looking the same as the rest of the site. :) Stwalkerster [ talk ] 20:46, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hi. Thanks for the help. I actually already know how to create the table that you revised my original table into. That was, in fact, how my table originated. For reasons not relevant to this discussion, I wanted to break the table apart into the two separate tables as you saw in my Help Me question. (One table as a "header" and one table for the "body".) In trying to do so (break the one table into two separate tables), that process raised the other questions that I posted in my Help Me request. So, I actually still need Question 1 and 3 answered. Do you know anything about Question 1 or 3? Also, I did not know what you meant when you said that I need to be aware of looking the same as the rest of the site. What did you mean by that? I was unsure. Was there something in my table that differed from MOS or the rest of the site? Thanks. Please reply at my Talk Page, so that I will be sure to see your reply. Thank you. (Joseph A. Calum Sanderson
I've declined the speedy tag you placed on Calum Sanderson. The reason is:
- marginal significance as writer of the film The Ghost of Molly Brown
For your information, עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 14:32, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
- Same goes for Northern Lights Spirits Films. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 17:10, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
- I guess I was a little too trigger-happy earlier. I'll try to step more to 'inclusionist' than 'deletionist' over this. :) Stwalkerster [ talk ] 17:25, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
I need help changing a page title
Hi, thanks for answering my call! I am trying to chage the title of a page but when i go to 'edit this page' section at the top of the page it only allows me to edit after the main title. I can edit sub headings, but not the overall one. The company where I work has chanegd names and really needs to be refered to in another way.

My entry has been slated for speedy deletion - what now?
Hi there, I've just uploaded an entry which is too commercial, apparently. What steps do I now need to take to revise it so that it fits accordingly with the criteria under which it was judged as being too commercial? Thanks for your advice in advance.
Cheers,
Rob. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Clippernolan (talk • contribs) 23:51, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hi! I have moved this to the bottom, which is the standard way Talk pages work on Wikipedia. The easiest thing to do is to place the {{hangon}} tag, stating you intend to fix it, and then make it more from a Neutral Point of View. :) Stwalkerster [ talk ] 23:55, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
Hi again and thanks for the reply. I am very new to wiki (as you may be able to tell). Where do I place the hangon tag? My entry is gone. I am worried that if I try to upload a new version without knowing precisely what part of my entry is being interpreted as "blatant advertising", that my topic will be blocked permanently. I've not added anything to my entry which I consider to be spurious or "non-neutral", so I don't feel like it's the best bet for me to decide what needs changing. Thanks for your advice so far, but I'm still a bit lost as to what to do next, seeing as my entry has been deleted entirely. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Clippernolan (talk • contribs) 00:37, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
Help me number 6: Forced typing of blank spaces
{{helpme}}
If you use the following "code" ... & n b s p ; ... this forces Wikipedia to "type" a blank space within the text.
So, if you want (say) 25 blank spaces ... do you have to type that code 25 separate times in a row ... or is there some short-hand? Thanks. (Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 01:43, 11 January 2008 (UTC))
- Yes. However, the colon (":") can be used to insert spaces at the beginning of a line. Stwalkerster [ talk ] 09:17, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, to what? Yes, I have to type that code 25 separate times in a row ... or, yes, is there some short-hand? Thanks. (Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 09:22, 11 January 2008 (UTC))
- The short hand for the beginning of the line is a colon, which inserts a tab (more or less). Anywhere else in the line, you would have to use the non-breaking space, denoted by the code

- Thanks for your help, but I am still not following you. So, let me re-phrase my question. Ignoring (for now) the whole concept about "the beginning of the line" ... let's just say that I want to print the letter "A" ... followed by 100 forced blank spaces ... and then the letter "Z". What is the exact code that will do so? Thanks! (Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 09:39, 11 January 2008 (UTC))
- Hi! it's the following (you might need to look at it in edit mode, between the code tags):
A Z
- I hope that clarifies it for you. Stwalkerster [ talk ] 11:25, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for all of your help. Now I understand how this works. Geez, you would think that "they" would make it easier and have some short-hand ... as opposed to making us type the blank space code 100 separate times. Thank you. (Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 01:00, 12 January 2008 (UTC))
- Bug the Developers - WP:BUGS - they might do something about it. Alternatively, create a template to do it. Stwalkerster [ talk ] 01:04, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

Help me number 5: Table format
{{helpme}}
Is there anyone out there who is good with formatting tables and can help me achieve what I am trying to achieve in this first table below? Thanks.
- the first row (all of the column headings) --- leave that as it is
- the first column (all of the row headings) --- leave that as it is
- all other cells (the twelve cells that have names and numbers in them) ...
- is it possible to format them in such a way that each cell is cut in half into two separate cells ... so, for example, the Spencer Tracy - 2 cell would be cut into a left half that says only "Spencer Tracy" and a right half that says only "2" ... but both of those split half-cells are still under the column of Best Actor? ... Is this possible? See the second table below for an example of the output I am trying to create. Thanks.
Superlative | Best Actor | Best Supporting Actor |
---|---|---|
Most Awards | Spencer Tracy - 2 | Walter Brennan - 3 |
Most Nominations | Laurence Olivier - 9 | Jack Nicholson - 4 |
Oldest Winner | Henry Fonda - 76 | George Burns - 80 |
Oldest Nominee | Richard Farnsworth - 79 | Ralph Richardson - 82 |
Youngest Winner | Adrien Brody - 29 | Timothy Hutton - 20 |
Youngest Nominee | Jackie Cooper - 9 | Justin Henry - 8 |
Example of Output I Am Trying to Create:
Because it is hard to describe in words (above), below is a sample output of what I am talking about. So, in the questions above, what I want to achieve would look something like this (below) ... except that I would not want to have that very top, first, pink-shaded row ...
Superlative | Best Actor | Best Supporting Actor | ||
---|---|---|---|---|
Most Awards | Spencer Tracy | 2 | Walter Brennan | 3 |
Most Nominations | Laurence Olivier | 9 | Jack Nicholson | 4 |
Oldest Winner | Henry Fonda | 76 | George Burns | 80 |
Oldest Nominee | Richard Farnsworth | 79 | Ralph Richardson | 82 |
Youngest Winner | Adrien Brody | 29 | Timothy Hutton | 20 |
Youngest Nominee | Jackie Cooper | 9 | Justin Henry | 8 |
Ultimately, the question is this ... is it possible for a single column heading (like "Best Actor") to span across two different columns (like the column of names and the column of numbers) ... and, if possible, how do I do it? Is it possible to achieve this? Can anyone help? Thanks. (Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 01:20, 11 January 2008 (UTC))
- I believe that that has fixed it. I just put the width and colspan parameters together. Stwalkerster [ talk ] 09:30, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks! That was exactly what I was looking for! Thanks ... you have been very helpful! Much appreciated! (Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 23:12, 13 January 2008 (UTC))
- That's OK, glad I could help! :) Stwalkerster [ talk ] 10:29, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
