AfC
[edit]While strictly speaking AfC is voluntary, approving your own page sets off a red light of sorts that may draw more attention to you. I would like to warn you that if you can not demonstrate notability for the church (as distinct from the previously existing Stone Folly) the article may be deleted via Articles for deletion. —Soap— 22:54, 31 December 2010 (UTC)
- I just created my first Wikipedia page, which the instructions said not to be afraid to do. I tried to follow the instructions, by creating my page first as a subpage of my user page and then move it. However, I didn't know how to move it and found a tip to use this AfC tag at the top. When I did that I got a link saying that I didn't have to do that since I'm a registered user. I just barely got my page started and now I'm being told that it's going to be deleted. I'm probably not even doing this talk thing right. So far, not a very good experience with Wikipedia. Stunink (talk) 23:13, 31 December 2010 (UTC)
- Basically red flags because you created your own submission, probably by accident though. The article itself doesn't seem to fit the Notability guidelines for organizations (something which a church is). That being said, you seem to have a lot of clue and can actually write an article as a new user (trust me, this is one of the better articles that I see daily). The article as it stands will probably be deleted unless you can link it to something big but you are welcome to stay on this project and try to help improve the article or write new material that may interest you. I would recommend the latter because it would be the best route to go and you are sure to gain valuable skills by sticking around. Kevin Rutherford (talk) 23:22, 31 December 2010 (UTC)
- Well either the church is notable or it's not. Frankly it doesn't matter whether you're the friendliest and most dedicated editor ever if you're writing about a subject that doesn't meet our inclusion guidelines. I understand it is frustrating but there is nothing that I or anyone else can do to keep the article on Wikipedia if it isn't notable. If you do believe it's notable you should be able to show us so by providing examples of sources unconnected to the church writing about the church, in accordance with the guidelines spelled out at Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies). —Soap— 23:25, 31 December 2010 (UTC)
