Speedy deletion nomination of OmniScience Explorations
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on OmniScience Explorations requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Zachlipton (talk) 04:22, 7 February 2011 (UTC)

Removal of Omniscience from List of private spaceflight companies
[edit]Just to let you know, I reverted your edit on the List of private spaceflight companies mainly because I could find nothing in the reference provided that discussed the concept.
Note that Wikipedia is not intended to be a place to publicize a project or concept. This website reports information that exists, is verifiable, and has articles regarding things of note. While I am a huge fan of start-up spaceflight companies, concentrate on getting the company going first. If you are successful, the publicity will come as will the Wikipedia article. Don't get the cart before the horse, and put the effort at least into the website itself so there is at least something to reference.
Seriously, I'd love to help you out, and it looks like you are trying to get involved with Wikipedia on some level. If you need to chat or even just figure out what is going on with Wikipedia at all, I really do want to get whatever it is that you want to put onto here or at least explain why it keeps getting deleted. --Robert Horning (talk) 15:37, 13 February 2011 (UTC)
- Yes I was indeed curious as to why the page was deleted every time I reposed it. I thought all I had to do was register a business and create a website in order to be "wiki material". I would like to get the company wiki back up, as well as to be reposed on the Private Space Companies list. I am working on the Omnisciencexplorations.com website as we speak. I will have the links to the articles pertaining to the space craft complete by this week. I would love some incite into this unknown experience. Thank you in advance. --Stratsoloer91 (talk) 03:13, 14 February 2011 (UTC)
- If you are interested in knowing some of the standards that apply to Wikipedia in regards to when a company is generally permitted to have a Wikipedia article, I'd suggest reading this page: Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies)
- The idea is that major corporations like General Motors or IBM certainly get a page, but generally a start-up company doesn't. Nothing personal here, but this is a fairly common practice. The problem is trying to find out about the company and being able to have at least something to base the article upon rather than just guessing or having a corporate public relations officer start making stuff up out of whole cloth.
- BTW, posting your e-mail address is fine, although I'd recommend that you use the services of this website to put it into the webmail system.... to help prevent spammers from abusing your e-mail address. The Wikimedia Foundation nor any of the administrators of this website really care if you post your e-mail address, but you are advised against it due to this concern about spam bots scraping e-mail addresses for what is a public site. You can put in your e-mail address in the preferences section, and then the site software will automatically forward an e-mail to you. Click on the Preferences button above (or this link) to view your preferences, then click on the User Profile section. Down at the bottom has the configuration section for handling e-mail.
- If you are interested in sending an e-mail to me, you can do so with this link to the web mail system if you want to see how it works. I'll try to get in touch with you in a bit, or contact me if you are still having problems. Yes, I know it can get overwhelming if you are new to Wikipedia and trying to contribute for the first time. It may seem frustrating at times, but there are reasons for almost all of the policies that are here... usually because somebody before you caused problems that had to be cleaned up and usually got somebody angry. --Robert Horning (talk) 04:05, 14 February 2011 (UTC)
- I do appreciate the speedy response. I just removed my email... I didn't even think about the spammers. This talk section will suffice for now.
- Here is where I am going with this whole company thing. Most, if not all, private space companies are largely started by some previous funding from some multi-billion dollar idea... IE: Space X, Virgin Galactic... My space company is one of the first to be started completely from the ground up. I know It sounds crazy, my family calls me crazy from time to time. I'm not completely crazy, I was attending Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University for a potential degree in Space Physics... Later I found out I would have been stuck in a lab the remainder of my life so I decided to start this "little" project.I understand I also need multi-billion dollars in funding but I have started small and already convinced some people in investing into the company; some for even an amount of 250,000-500,000$.
- I am currently a sole-proprietorship listed as "Omniscience" and soon it will be an LLC. Adding to all this, I happen to be in school still for a business degree and I just turned 20. Most private space company owners are around 30+ and some even have degrees. I feel like im an exceptionally different breed of a space company. I have a few tricks up my sleeve, but I would rather not post them here for others to take my idea. If you are interested I MAY be able to vaguely talk about them through email or something. Maybe I'm wrong? Maybe there are many other people my age in my predicament, doing the exact same thing im doing... I guess it is possible. Anything is possible.
- My next questions to you are, How did you come across my article? Why where you looking at the private space company page? Do you know a good amount of information about these private space groups? What can I do in order to become "legit" enough for a wiki article? --Stratsoloer91 (talk) 04:40, 14 February 2011 (UTC)
