Re Amo, Amas, Amat
[edit]Hey. Happy to be corrected on the latin grammar in University of Edinburgh. My version came from the seal (Sigilum commune Universitatis Academicae Edinburgensis) and text (Nos Universitatis Academicae Edinburgensis Praefectus Vice-Cancellarius . . . testatum hoc scripto . . . ) of a degree certificate. Can you double check? StockholmSyndrome 21:08, 27 October 2005 (UTC) (Copied from User talk:Doops)
- Right. Your texts mean, respectively, "the common seal of the academic university in/of Edinburgh" and "We the prefect and vice-chancellor of the academic university in/of Edinburgh..." In both cases the name of the university is in the genitive case (seal OF the thingy, vice-chancellor OF the thingy); for the info box I took that language and just changed it into the nominative case. Cheers. Doops | talk 22:52, 27 October 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for your support
[edit]thanks for helping out with adding that hawick is in a non gaelic speaking part of scotland, ive used your example on all towns in the borders, gaelic is not spoken there yet people insist on adding the name to the town for their own political reasons retro_junkies | talk 01:09, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
Hope you will continue to support keeping gaelic off the borders and hawick
[edit]as the above said thanks for adding your support, while the hawick page remains to be free of these so called gaelic names, other border towns are suffering at the hands of the gaelic speakers and i hope you will support me in keeping the gaelic names off the likes of gala, kelso and selkirk byerswerks | talk 19:52, 09 May 2006
- Byerswerks/Retro junkies dear chap, not everyone has an agenda like you. Stockholm Syndrome here actually came up with a very decent and justifiable alternative to the situation which you find so insufferable - perhaps if you tried being anything other than a borderline vandal and blatant pusher of POV you would yourself have come up with something worthwhile. siarach 19:14, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
