DRV
- Just wanted to pop back by now that the DRV is a foregone conclusion. Firstly, let me say that, although I have a pretty good stack of edits under my belt, I've never done a DRV before, and hadn't really participated in many either, so my knowledge of the process was maybe a little weak going into it. I now feel like this was not the right approach, and that many if not most admins would have made the same close that you did. That is the real problem, as you have also acknowledged, that we perhaps take AGF a little to far sometimes at AfD and believe that users who go on about how an article could or will be improved often don't actually make any improvements, but the article is kept anyway, especially if there are several users saying the same thing. Also, although I still find your talk page wizard very off-putting if not downright obnoxious, DRV is not the appropriate venue for such a discussion as it has nothing to do with the article in question. To be honest, I think it was that as much as than anything else that made me want to pursue a DRV, since the wizard actually suggested it. Nevertheless, I hope you didn't feel personally attacked by my remarks, I think I might have gotten a little too steamed up about this one. Anyway, well see what happens to Mr. guy with glasses, I have a sneaking suspicion that he will be visiting AfD once again in a month or two... Beeblebrox (talk) 05:32, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
- No problem at all. Thanks for dropping by. Stifle (talk) 09:42, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
- Said DRV, including your comments therein, is being further discussed at Wikipedia:Village pump (policy)#Excessive deletionism due to deletion-crazed admins using vote-counting. Just a friendly heads up. — Satori Son 21:16, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
- Noted. I don't think there's anything I need to add. Stifle (talk) 09:45, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
- I guess I decided I did need to add something after all. Stifle (talk) 09:58, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
Andungen og jeg images removed
Andungen og jeg: I forwarded the e-mail from owner Gyldendal, and am wondering if this is 1)not read or if 2) something is wrong with it? I'm new to this, so I don't know what to do. Images were used in Norwegian wikipedia, Emilie Christensen, and the pages for her books Andungen og jeg. --Meowski (talk) 11:47, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
- I'll need more details in order to work this one out. Can you please give me any of the following:
- The exact name or URL of the article where the images were used
- The OTRS ticket number
- The exact name or URL of the images
- Thanks! Stifle (talk) 13:47, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

Stifle, I have recently started the Association Football variants taskforce of WikiProject Football. However, I cannot insert the code for this into the template as it is protected. Please edit it and put the code in. Thank you - 2o-DeMoN-o8t*c*a*wp 15:56, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

PUI
Hi, could you handle a few remaining images on PUI for me? One on Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images/2008 November 21 and five on Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images/2008 November 24. I tagged these images myself, so I can't really close them. Garion96 (talk) 12:26, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
- Done. I've re-added the PUI summary to the filedelete dropdown for convenience; you can type in the date into the "other" field. Stifle (talk) 18:15, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks a lot, the backlog notice can finally be removed. Could you do one more image? You forgot Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images/2008 November 24#Image:Beth Chapman2.jpg. Garion96 (talk) 20:00, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the final image. Regarding the dropdown. I still don't think it should be used. It is trivial indeed to ask the deleting admin, but it is even more trivial for the deleting admin to provide a link to the discussion page. Either way, I don't mind it being back but I won't use it anymore. Garion96 (talk) 21:57, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

Your general DRV philosophy
Hi Stifle, I notice that your wizard directs editors appealing your Afd closures to go directly to DRV, yet you seem to routinely ask users why they haven't directly contacted the closing admin, in cases where you didn't close it. This seems somewhat contradictory to me, so I was wondering how you reconciled it. Just curious, --Aervanath lives in the Orphanage 19:24, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
- The instructions at DRV require users to contact the closing admin, but I have waived that rule for myself regarding AFDs because I find that it doesn't help. Other admins are free to do so (and some indeed do). Stifle (talk) 20:01, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
Good evening, please you could translate in Irish Lola Pagnani?
Good evening to you. Regards from Calabria! I write you regarding my friend's article. If out of politeness you could translate in Irish her biography. In change I will help you with my Italian. Ian_Sommerville_(Artist/Scientist) deleted July 2008
Hello
I noticed while doing research that you deleted the page:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ian_Sommerville_(Artist/Scientist)
in July of 2008
While I have no idea how well the page deleted was written Ian Sommerville is a notable artist and scientist connected to the Beat Generation. He and Bryon Gysin developed the Dream Machine, he has been included in several exhibitions at major institutions (his work was recently included in an exhibition at the Statens Museum in Copenhagen and several years ago at the Tate Modern) and a feature documentary made about him.
He lived in Tangier with Gysin and and William Burroughs and is seen in hundreds of photographs with various members of the Beat Generation published in dozens of books. Allen Ginsburg composed his eulogy.
I feel that though he may not be a widely known persona he is in fact notable for his contributions to literature, art and culture in the 20th century.
If you would be so kind as to undelete the page I will do what I can to flesh it out in a better fashion.
Thank you

- I notice that you chose the "other deletion" option from my deletion wizard, but the correct selection would have been "speedy deletion".
- Ian Sommerville (Artist/Scientist) was deleted under criterion 7 (under Articles) of our criteria for speedy deletion because it appeared to be an article about a person which didn't indicate why it was important or significant. Please see WP:BIO for details of what might show notability. If you think that these criteria are met, please explain which one and provide citations from reliable sources to back up your claim, and I will consider undeleting it.

Sonnal Thaan Kathala
Ref: Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2008 December 14
Hi, following up from the Sonnal Thaan Kathala article deletion page, here is my reply:
You said:
- This page was a redirect to Sonnal Thaan Karadiya which was deleted as patent nonsense. I have deleted the broken redirect (for now). Stifle (talk) 18:25, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
- While the deleted page was not patent nonsense, it had one single name as filling all the roles (actor/director/etc.) and therefore seems very hoaxy. It would be dysfunctional to restore it only to delete it again (at AFD or otherwise) for those reasons, so keep deleted with the understanding that if someone presents solid sources and undertakes to clean the article up, I'm minded to support them. Stifle (talk) 18:33, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, Karadiya as I said above is nonsense, but not the original content! And that's why I request it to be moved to the original page.
- And it is true that T. Rajendar is not only an actor but also director, producer, script writer, singer and even a politician! See this. Also see this (shows TR as both producer and music director) and also this and this, his latest movie Veerasamy, which is fully managed by him. Please believe me. I'm not kidding you. Please ask any Tamil person and he'll tell you the same! I don't blame you as you naturally don't know about Kolloywood band that's why I have given you sources in English from reputable Tamil mp3 sites.
- As I said some content like Karadi / Kong that is frequently used by his fans and is nonsense (not appropriate for Wiki), but the movie itself isn't nonsense and should be restored to its genuine form (w/o Karadi / king kong stuff). Please restore the page in its unmolested form. Thank you. 118.100.5.238 (talk) 20:13, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
- In order to keep the discussion in one place, I am replying at the DRV. Stifle (talk) 09:59, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
- OK Thanks that's easier. Also please frequently check the said page. I have added 2 replies and provided sources to prove TR made this movie entirely (directed, produced, song director...) as well as other sources to prove this is a real movie that was popular because of its songs. I have also said I can and I will restore the page in 2 minutes. BTW I am the same person as above (118.100.5.238). This is my account I created today. Selvaraaj (talk) 15:36, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

- Also, can you send me a copy of The Fox and the Hound Steal Money at [email redacted]? 68.220.187.133 (talk) 22:28, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
- I am not in a position to email articles to unregistered users (as explained above). I have restored the history of those pages so that you can merge them. Stifle (talk) 09:14, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

request for copy of article Arnold Tremere
Dear Stifle,
I would like to revisit the Arnold Tremere article I posted earlier. I plan to see if I can get this submission to conform to Wiki standards. It was mentioned on another page that fulfilling this type of request is usually reserved for someone with an established history of submissions, however, this article was my first attempt to submit anything. SriMesh suggested that this article was actually deleted because the subject was not sufficiently "known" relative to the people on the Medicine Hat page. If this is true, I would greatly appreciate that feedback in order to decide whether or not to proceed with revisions and/or to perhaps more appropriately place any such revisions with the Arnold Tremere link in Shaunavon, Sasketchewan. I look forward to any suggestions you have to offer.

NeWest Press
Hi. :) NeWest Press is in the older consolidated section of WP:CP, as I've been waiting to see what clarification you were able to achieve on the issue before marking it resolved. Since it's been a bit since you left your note on the talk page, I thought I'd check in. Is it looking like we're going to be able to clear the material? --Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:55, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
- I've just called up Ticket:2008120610019085 but there's been no reply since my post last Thursday. If it's causing a backlog, you could delete it on the understanding that it'll be restored if/when a proper GFDL release is received. It looks like DiCam is the same user that sent in the OTRS email, so I'll drop her a talk page message. Stifle (talk) 13:00, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
- It's not causing much trouble, hanging out where it is. :) If there's no movement on it, I'll delete it in a couple of days, and I'll leave a note to the creator advising that it will be restored when GFDL requirements are satisfied. Thanks. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:53, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
MY photos and images
Um, I would like to know why you think I have a history of uploading non-free or copyright images. Please don't go around accusing me of that and then recommending my images for deletion. Some of the images you have put on deletion notice are photos I have personally taken MYSELF. I ask that you take those notices off all the images I have posted. If you refuse to do so, you can expect that I will report you. --Pwu2005 (talk) 17:43, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for using my message wizard. However, you appear to have selected the wrong option. You selected "You need details of an OTRS ticket" but your message does not have anything to do with OTRS.
- Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. We hope that copyright holders will release images and text under a free license, but that is not always the case.
- It is clear from the long list of image warnings on your talk page that you do, in fact, have a history of uploading images which don't conform to various policies. Therefore, I maintain that statement.
- I decline to remove the {{PUI}} tags. If you feel that any of the listings I have made are incorrect, feel free to comment at the appropriate section of Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images/2008 December 5. It would help your case if you provide a link to a site clearly connected with you where you have previously uploaded some or all of the disputed images, or some other proof that the images are yours.
- For your reference, Wikipedia:Dispute resolution outlines options you have if you consider yourself to be in a dispute with me. Stifle (talk) 17:15, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
- Stifle:
- If you would have taken the time to look at which images I have uploaded that are considered non-free, they are all logos of companies and organizations. That makes your point of my having a history of uploading copyrighted images a complete waste of my time and yours. Obviously, if I've made the mistake of uploading logos without appropriate licensing, it indicates mere inexperience and should NOT affect the deletion status of photos I have taken myself. Go to my Flickr page if you want evidence that the photos of city scenes you have tagged for deletion are my own... http://www.flickr.com/photos/yuman/
- I will not tolerate the inappropriate tagging of my images for deletion, and again, I will report you if you continue to inappropriately tag my images for deletion.
- Phillip Wu (User:Pwu2005)
- Thank you for your message. In future, please sign your messages by typing ~~~~ at the end.
- As I said above, if you feel that any of the listings I have made are incorrect, feel free to comment at the appropriate section of Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images/2008 December 5. Threats do not get people very far here. Stifle (talk) 18:33, 16 December 2008 (UTC)

You deleted this image. According to the image page, the uploader Madeofstars was the creator of the work and gave the correct CC licence. Is it the case then that it was not his copyright and the image was uploaded with a false statement? Some of the images he uploaded and said were his photos had Stella Vine's artwork as their subject, so her permission was also required, but this one did not. If it is his copyright, as stated, then it can be restored. Ty 11:18, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

- Madeofstars said on each of the images he uploaded that it was his own work, even when it was from Ms. Vine. As a result, I am suspicious that this image may be in the same category. There is an ongoing OTRS conversation on the topic and I expect that it will bring more clarity to the situation. Stifle (talk) 11:20, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
- You are saying that some of the photos were not User:Madeofstars' copyright but that he claimed they were when he uploaded them. There are some other issues with this user also. See Talk:Stella Vine. Ty 11:28, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

Syeah Skate Page Deletion
I wish to challenge the deletion of a page that you deleted.
- The page title is Syeah Skate.
- I have read the reason for deleting the page and I feel it was incorrect because this is a group yes... although it is an informal group. It is not registered anywhere and for all intents and purposes does not exist and deserves to be noted. If you ask or search around for rollerblading in Greece you will come across the term "syeah" which was coined by this group. The reason why it belongs in Wikipedia is because of the signifigance of its success! Not its existence... never in Greece has a small crew like this become so well known, showcased even by mainstream media and hailed by the international inline skating community, just read the reviews the DVD has on Vimeo and how much its been viewed. As far as alternative sports in greece is concerned Syeah Skate is the most significant example of independant, non funded, non-profit success. This may be insignificant to you... but so is the Siera Club to me... but it has a Wiki page doesn't it? If all 13-25 year olds living in Greece know of the Syeah Skate crew I think that is considered 'notable'. The crew has never earned a single penny and has no intention to do so and yet the notability the crew has is unprecedented in Greece, all achieved by the commitment and enthusiasm it has spawned.
- The following sources back up my claim:
- http://www.rollernews.com/date/2008/06/page/7 One of the many Inline skating community websites referencing the Syeah Skate movie
- http://www.londongreekfilmfestival.com/ Here you can see the award that was given
- http://www.mad.tv Mainstream music television station of Greece, who are going to broadcast the Syeah Skate 4 DVD, you can contact them and ask if they don't have it in the schedule.
Please consider restoring this article. Antihero1982 (talk) 11:59, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you for your message. None of the sources you specified constitute reliable sources. Therefore at this time I will not be restoring the article. Please feel free to write about your skating club on its own website.
- If you feel that other articles do not meet Wikipedia's inclusion criteria, please feel free to recommend them for deletion under the deletion process. If you wish to appeal the deletion of this article, please go to Wikipedia:Deletion review. Stifle (talk) 12:06, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
- I really don't get it... I keep reading good practice guidelines and it makes no sense, Wikipedia requires online references since Wikipedia is incapable of viewing any other sources (with no central editor). What happens to the things that are noted in print but not online? They have to first be published somewhere online before being sited on wikipedia, this almost renders wikipedia redundant! In any case can I have my content back please... also you should watch our video, you have the vimeo link. Antihero1982 (talk) 12:44, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
- I can email the content to your registered Wikipedia email address if you would like.

- Ty suggested I write to you directly about the above image Rosy.jpeg which was removed earlier today.
- Dear Stifle, yes I do own the rights to the image Rosy.jpeg, not Vine and none of her art works were pictured in that work, so you are correct in that we don't need to delete it. What with all the :confusion surrounding the images I had uploaded, I myself tried to remove them all, but it is safe to say we can re put that Rosy image back up if possible. Otherwise I can just reupload it. We don't need :Vine's permission for that image.
- Madeofstars 13:17, 17 December 2008 (GMT)
- Incidentally, I own ALL the images I've uploaded. But we had to ask Vine for her permission as she owns the copyright to the images in the photo stills. So just to make it very clear to you both, I am the :creator of all those photos, and did not give false statements when I uploaded them.
- Madeofstars 13:17, 17 December 2008 (GMT)
- I've restored that image. Stifle (talk) 13:54, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you for your kind help Stifle, and for reinstating the image so quickly. best wishes,

I tagged an image for deletion and the upholder agrees to it's deletion. Obviously I can't delete it but can the users statement be used to justify a speedy delete? — Realist2 15:43, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
