Enigma rotors
[edit]Thanks for picking that error up; someone had introduced it last month[1], probably just vandalism. And welcome to Wikipedia! — Matt Crypto 10:00, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

New Articles
[edit]Hi Steve could you please add content to the articles that you have created, as we can't have placeholder articles and they are at present eligible for speedy deletion for having no content or context, best Mo ainm~Talk 17:09, 19 November 2010 (UTC)
Point taken - I didn't know placeholders weren't allowed. The point here was to try and tidy up on the existing mess where the BC bands were linked to pages explaining the amateur bands. I was hoping that others might get on with the filling in job! I intend doing some filling on the 49m page. I'll stop adding new pages for now, add just the 49m one (with content). Steve Hosgood (talk) 17:13, 19 November 2010 (UTC)
- No problem but also try to add to the ones you created even if only to stub level to prevent deletion. Mo ainm~Talk 17:15, 19 November 2010 (UTC)
- I'll have to develop a suitable stub format first! Indeed - this is roughly what I was trying to do in the first place. 'Placeholder' obviously != 'Stub'... Give me some time to get it right at least. Steve Hosgood (talk) 17:29, 19 November 2010 (UTC)
- Add {{underconstruction}} to the articles to prevent speedy deletion tags being added. Mo ainm~Talk 17:37, 19 November 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks, but someone reverted me already anyway! That's wikis for you, but there's constructive noises going on on the "Discussion" page for the 'shortwave bands' article anyway. Steve Hosgood (talk) 22:04, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

New Curtain array article
[edit]The Technology Barnstar | ||
Thanks for creating the new Curtain array article, and improving Wikipedia's coverage of radio and technology-related articles. Northamerica1000(talk) 06:43, 29 February 2012 (UTC) |
- I got a star? Whooo! I haven't had one of those since primary school! Seriously though, the curtain array page is still a work-in-progress. Got to add Bruce arrays and maybe others. But hey - thanks for noticing Steve Hosgood (talk) 11:10, 29 February 2012 (UTC)

Metrication in the United Kingdom
[edit]Hi Steve,
Just to let you know that I responded to you on the article page. My response is now well down on the list - we had an unwelcome visit from DeFacto aka 6foot6 aka 6feet6 and his rubbish might have masked my response. Martinvl (talk) 20:19, 19 April 2012 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Canvassing
[edit]Please don't post messages to people to support you in deletion discussions. It is not allowed, per Wikipedia:Canvassing. Fram (talk) 09:59, 24 May 2012 (UTC)
- It's not canvassing: it's just raising awareness amongst others who have an interest in the subject. I'm not telling them what to say, just pointing out that they might like to join in. It's hardly fair of you to nominate my article for deletion and expect everyone with an interest to "magically" notice that it is up for deletion. *I* wouldn't have known it was up for deletion unless I had been notified.... Steve Hosgood (talk) 10:15, 24 May 2012 (UTC)
- (edit conflict with your next message)That's what you have a watchlist for. If you, the article creator, doesn't even watch these articles, then who do you expect to catch vandalism on it? And an AfD isn't for "everyone with an interest", it is for disinterested, neutral parties to judge whether the article meets our policies and guidelines. Apart from that; if you send a "please oppose!" message to someone, you can hardly claim that you are "not telling them what to say"... Fram (talk) 11:19, 24 May 2012 (UTC)
- Actually, after a re-read of the postings in question, it did come over like canvassing! Fixed that. Steve Hosgood (talk) 11:10, 24 May 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for changing these, they still have the problem of a partisan audience (contacting only people who you presume will support you), but at least they are more neutral in content. Fram (talk) 11:19, 24 May 2012 (UTC)

Metrication of British Transport
[edit]Hi Steve,
Thank you for your support in Metrication of British transport. Just to put you in the picture, this article has been proposed both for deletion and for merger - in both cases the main support came from a sockpuppet of User:DeFacto. In my view, both proposals were purely disruptive. You can read the outcome of both proposals on the article's Talk Page. I regard the bit about the height above sea level as being disruptive as well.
Regards
Martin
