Sanctuary
[edit]Wecome to Wikipedia. I hope you enjoy editing.
This is just a note that I moved your addition to Milton Keynes from the History of Bletchley (pre-1966) into the "Popular Culture" section, which I think is a better place for it. I hope you agree. I've also added categories to your Sanctuary article - you might like to follow the Dance category to see if the rave scene is properly represented or can be improved. You might want to add a reference in the main Bletchley, Milton Keynes article too. --Concrete Cowboy 14:35, 13 January 2006 (UTC)
Picture
[edit]Thanks for contributing the picture of the Sanctuary. Unfortunately, you don't say that you took it yourself (I assume you did) and that you are contributing it under GPL or similar. You need to tag it to say so - I suggest that you just copy what I did for my Pagoda picture here. (I copied from someone else, so don't claim any credit). --Concrete Cowboy 14:51, 14 January 2006 (UTC)
history of the British electronic music scene
[edit]Steve - the best suggestion is that you just fire ahead. The only rule is Wikipedia:No original research, which means that you can draw on published sources but you can't do vanity publishing. You may not copy other peoples work, which means that there has to be a fair amount of latitude in what you write. For example, your article on the Sanctuary is fine as it stands, but if you wanted to give a figure for how many people danced themselves to death, you would have to cite your sources - it couldn't be based on your own survey of doormen! Of course you don't want to duplicate work that someone else has already done under a slightly different title, so have a search first. A good way to start is to branch off from an existing article - you don't really want to spend hours on an article that nobody can ever find. Ideally, make contact with some editors who are writing articles about the same thing - how about starting with the people who wrote the club and DJ articles that you linked to from Sanctuary. Good luck!--Concrete Cowboy 23:49, 14 January 2006 (UTC)
Noted articles
[edit]Steve, if you are assembling material for an article, I notice Bouncy Techno and Godskitchen have links to Milton Keynes. --Concrete Cowboy 18:05, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
- Steve - as soon as you think an article is no longer a stub, just delete the stub tag at the end of the article.
Conversations
[edit]If you want to start a new conversation on someone's talk page, just click the + sign on the top row. Or cheat, like I've done now, and add to the end of an existing article using a normal section heading (==New topic== or ===new subtopic===)
- Have you noticed the "No Ws" button [W over stamped with a traffic "don't" sign) at the top of the edit window? It means "nowiki", meaning "I want to give an example of wiki syntax, but I don't want wiki to interpret it. Next to the "No Ws" button, the "scribble" button inserts a signature - marginally faster than typing four ~s! --Concrete Cowboy 17:50, 2 February 2006 (UTC)

Electronic dance music
[edit]Steve, right now, the electronic dance music is a feeble redirect to Electronic music, which is really about technology and "modern classical". It could do with a load of stuff about House, Garage, Techno, Trance, UK Garage et cetera etc --Concrete Cowboy 16:46, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
Image Tagging Image:Sanctuaryfront.jpg
[edit]This media may be deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Sanctuaryfront.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Dethomas 22:08, 11 February 2006 (UTC)
Hi. When you uploaded Image:Gallery03.jpg, you did not specify complete source and copyright information. Another user subsequently tagged it with {{GFDL-presumed}} and, for some time, it has existed on Wikipedia under the assumption that you created the image and you agreed to license it under the GFDL. This assumption, however well-meaning, is not legally sufficient and the tag is being phased out. Images using it are being deleted.
This image has been tagged for deletion and will be deleted in one week if adequate copyright information is not provided.
If you, personally, are the author of this content, meaning that you took the photograph yourself or you created the chart yourself (and it does not use any clipart that you did not create), please retag the image with a free image copyright tag that correctly describes your licensing intentions, usually {{GFDL-self}} or {{PD-self}}. Please also make sure if you have not already done so that you write a good description of what the image depicts, when you took the photo, and other important details. This will allow Wikipedia to continue using the image.
If you did not create the image or if it is derived from the copyrighted works of others, please keep in mind that most images on the internet are copyrighted and are not suitable for use on Wikipedia. Wikipedia respects the copyrights of others and does not use images unless we know that they have been freely licensed. Any creative work is automatically copyrighted, even if it lacks a copyright notice. Unless the copyright holder has specifically disclaimed their rights to the image and released it under the GFDL or another compatible license, we cannot use it. If you did not create the image, and cannot make the image compliant with Wikipedia:Non-free content, simply do nothing and it will be deleted in a week. All other non-free images must follow these rules.
Please feel free to contact me on my talk page or leave a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions with any questions you may have. Thank you. Aksibot 22:05, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Airmainroom.gif
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Airmainroom.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Videmus Omnia Talk 21:42, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
Replaceable fair use Image:Airmainroom.gif
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Airmainroom.gif. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Videmus Omnia Talk 21:42, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
Image:Airlogo.gif
[edit]I have tagged Image:Airlogo.gif as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Thank you. Videmus Omnia Talk 21:42, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Helter3.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Helter3.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 16:58, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image (File:Godskitchen logo RESIZED.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Godskitchen logo RESIZED.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. ZooFari 02:40, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
Notification of automated file description generation
[edit]Your upload of File:Armin@air.jpg or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. In order to help make better use of the media, an attempt has been made by an automated process to identify and add certain information to the media's description page.
This notification is placed on your talk page because a bot has identified you either as the uploader of the file, or as a contributor to its metadata. It would be appreciated if you could carefully review the information the bot added. To opt out of these notifications, please follow the instructions here. Thanks! The article Global Gathering 2003 has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
does not warrant a stand alone article; fails WP:NEVENT and WP:GNG
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Spiderone 21:10, 1 December 2020 (UTC)

File source problem with File:Sanctuaryfront.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:Sanctuaryfront.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.
If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.
Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
