Creating a biography page for a published author. Is there a template I can use? Stephaniebradyays (talk) 17:02, 13 July 2018 (UTC)
- While there is a certain formula used in creating the lead paragraph of an article, the rest of the process is not so formulaic. It all depends on the kinds of sources you have. If you have not created an article, in particular a biography article, before, you need to go through the information at your first article and pay particular attention to the notability criteria at NWRITER. If you have three or four good notability references, start with just those, summarize what they say about the subject, and get your draft reviewed. Once you have an accepted article, you can add in other references, including some that are considered primary sources, and summarize the information from them to round out the article.
- I see you've used the words "published author". While I guess that might be considered a minimum qualification to be written up as a author on Wikipedia, we need a great deal more to have an encyclopedia article about someone. If you want to look at other articles as examples of how to write, be sure you are looking at articles that have been graded as GA (Good Article) or FA (Featured Article). Articles rated as stub, start, C, B, or A will likely not be something to emulate.
- You want the determination of notability to happen early. Without that, all additional work will be wasted effort. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 17:23, 13 July 2018 (UTC)
