A tag has been placed on Draft:Criterion Software Limited, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. You must disclose your employment

[edit]
Information icon

Hello StephaniePolystream. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially egregious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat SEO.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists, and if it does not, from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:StephaniePolystream. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=StephaniePolystream|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Ian.thomson (talk) 10:06, 7 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I am an employee at Polystream but are not getting paid for the specific task or writing Wikipedia entries. I will disclose my employment as soon as and if I am unblocked. I am very sorry I have not done this before, I did not think it was necessary given the absence of payment for this task. Thank you. StephaniePolystream (talk) 10:16, 23 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Well, I suppose it wouldn't violate WP:OUTING to merely note that Polystream and Criterion Software both happened to be run by Adam Michael Billyard. Ian.thomson (talk) 11:58, 23 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hi StephaniePolystream, you currently seem to be editing Wikipedia only for promotional purposes. Wikipedia is not for promotion. I suggest promising not to edit about your conflicts of interest again, and proposing examples for edits you would like to make in the future. Please provide at least one specific example (which page, which edit?). Please also explain why a block was necessary to enforce a disclosure, despite a clear warning. If you are currently not interested in contributing to Wikipedia for other purposes than promoting your conflicts of interest, please wait until this changes before making an appeal. Thank you very much in advance. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 15:09, 23 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Not for promotional purposes (Heading converted to bold text ~ToBeFree)

Hi ToBeFree This Wikipedia page has been created to give the correct information about Criterion Software Limited it has not been created for promotional purposes. If you think this is the case we can remove the link between Criterion and Polystream? Adam Billyard was the co-found of Criterion Software and the page needs to be created for that purpose - I have also supported this document with the relevant and correct references as required by Wikipedia — Preceding unsigned comment added by StephaniePolystream (talkcontribs) 15:46, 27 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi StephaniePolystream, the page does not "need" to be created. I am declining the unblock request because you currently clearly do not intend to edit about any other topic than your conflicts of interest, and because your only intention for editing Wikipedia, at the moment, appears to be promotion. As Wikipedia is not for promotion, you can not be unblocked for this purpose.
If you ever, perhaps in a few years, become interested in contributing to Wikipedia as a volunteer, about topics unrelated to your business affiliations and conflicts of interest, you may create a new appeal with clear promises not to edit about Criterion Software Limited, Polystream, Adam Billyard or similar topics ever again. Your appeal should contain examples for contributions that the community considers to be useful; ideas can be found at the community portal and the Task Center. You should carefully read the guide for appealing blocks before deciding to do so. Please also note that immediately making these promises after having noticed that they are required is not credible. For a purely promotional, financially involved editor to ever become a helpful volunteer, a rethinking period of over six months could be realistic. Essays such as the "Standard Offer" recommend this timespan as a minimum.
Looking forward to an appeal made with better intentions, perhaps in 2021, and best regards,

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for advertising or promotion. From your contributions and the statements made in the discussion above, this seems to be your only purpose.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  ~ ToBeFree (talk) 16:29, 27 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
