Image copyright problem with Image:Wiki 6 chime.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading Image:Wiki 6 chime.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 05:43, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. Thanks for all the work you've done! The article (which I started over two years ago) is much more informative now. Greetings, and keep up the good work! --Janke | Talk 08:05, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
- I reinstated the beer link, it's called a "disambiguation link", and is NOT a promotion. Originally, it was the only article named "Steam whistle", before I started the "real" article! However, if you still, after this explanation, feel that the disambig link shouldn't be there, I won't oppose you removing it again. --Janke | Talk 08:35, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
- Just thought I'd come here and say 'thank you' too. I noticed your recent changes and made a note to go back and proof-read at some point. I was pleasantly surprised to find nothing obvious that needed changing (although some of the units (psig?) I don't recognise), and, perhaps more importantly, to read an article that covered a subject in just the right level of technical detail. It's just what WP needs!
- There are plenty more steam-related subjects that would benefit from such attention, so any further contributions will be welcome.

- Thank you for your comments and for checking the page. The psig term could be linked to the Wiki psig page or could be restated as psi gauge pressure. I am hestitant to convert units from the source literature to SI units. Do you have a preference?
- Steamer405 (talk) 21:27, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
- Unquestionably, use the units provided in the references, it's much easier to check them for accuracy. There is also the consideration that older things may have been designed with older units in mind, and may well have nicely-rounded imperial measurements but horrible SI equivalents. The 'done thing' is to provide the SI equivalents following (in this case), and {{convert}} does a lot of the hard work for you, although it is a very powerful template, and the parameter options take some getting used to.
- EdJogg (talk) 00:05, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you, I revised the page to include explanations of the imperial abbreviations and added SI equivalents following.

License tagging for File:WikiUltrawhistle.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:WikiUltrawhistle.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.
For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 04:07, 15 May 2009 (UTC)

[edit]Thank you Steamer405 for the image of a steam whistle titled "348px-Wiki_cup_whistle.jpg" uploaded at:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steam_whistle?oldid=0
You wrote that it was from a 1920 book. Do you know the title and author?
As I recall I did not upload the original image but rather sharpened it on Photoshop and re-loaded it, so I don't know where it came from. If preferable, we could use a different image with full information.
