Hi! I am Starburst 101!

Adminship

[edit]

Dear Starburst 101,

I have requested that you be come an admin on the Wiki, Please click here for details.

Hi there. I see (through recent changes patrolling) that there's a request for adminship page up for you; it doesn't seem to be linked correctly from the main WP:RfA page, but even so, I'd like to suggest you decline the nomination at this point. If you look at other RfA requests, you might note that most of the people involved have been involved with Wikipedia for months, if not years, and have thousands of edits, showing that they're knowledgeable about Wikipedia and its rules and regulations. I suspect that if this gets linked properly, you'll find that most people voting will question your experience and lack of edits. If I were you, I'd concentrate on learning the ropes here at Wikipedia, editing articles, getting to know the rules and regulations for inclusion, and if you still feel in a few months and after a couple thousand edits that you'd like to seek adminship, then give it a shot at that time. Just some friendly advice. Cheers. Tony Fox (speak) 23:02, 15 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Helpme

[edit]

I want to be an admin. Above Tony Fox said: it doesn't seem to be linked correctly from the main WP:RfA page. How do I get it so it IS linked correctly?

There are instructions for this somewhere on the RfA page. To be honest, if you can't figure it out then your shouldn't be applying for adminship. Wikipedia's standards for adminship are really high. Since you don't have enough experience your RfA will fail. Do not link it correctly.--Commander Keane 23:28, 15 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Closing of adminship

[edit]

Candidate, please indicate acceptance of the nomination here: I accept the nomination for adminship: On June 15, 2006. I am pleased to have such a wonderful opportunity put before me. I would like to be withdrawn

OK, you have already withdrawn. All you had to do was strike your acceptance - and you have done this.--Commander Keane 23:42, 15 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

when i get used to the wiki more and have more edits, can I have my adminship request back? PS how many edits have I made?

OK, this is your last use of {{helpme}}, please don't use it again. When you are ready for adminship, with about 2000 edits and months of solid experience you can just have another nomination. The old one will still exist, but a new one can be made. At the top of the page it says "my contributions". Looking at them, you have made less than 50 edits. Remember, don't use {{helpme}} again, it is for building the encyclopedia, not these types of questions.--Commander Keane 23:51, 15 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Page Moves

[edit]
I do need help, when I try and move a page I get this: Not logged in

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search You cannot move pages because: you are not logged in, your account is blocked from editing, or your account is too new. In the last case, please list the page at Wikipedia:Requested moves. Please do not attempt to "move" the page via copying and pasting its content, as that destroys the page's history.

Return to Main Page.

When will my account be old enough to move pages? Starburst101 talk 21:05, 18 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am not sure, however, you can ask at Wikipedia:Requested moves or I can move the page for you. --Pilot|guy 21:13, 18 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Admin

[edit]

I started to start an admin request sheet here and I wanted to withdraw myself. But how do I make it so I UNwithdrawl myself and so it is recognized under the "Current nominations for Adminship"? Starburst101 talk 21:25, 18 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I would strongly urge you not to do so as you do not meet the standards set for adminship, and therefore it is not likely to suceed. Unwithdrawing yourself will make it worse. Please wait a few months and try again. --Pilot|guy 21:29, 18 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I will not unwithdraw myself...yet but when I do, How do I list it under "Current Nominations for Adminship"?

Read What to do if you are nominated by someone else:. —WAvegetarian(talk) 21:32, 18 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I cannot do the step 4 on What to do if you are nominated by someone else:, because when I click "Edit this Page" it says it is fully protected

It is semiprotected. By the time you are ready for adminship, you will be able to edit it. —WAvegetarian(talk) 21:44, 18 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikiboxes

[edit]
Where can you find the list of WikiBoxes you can use?

Go to WP:UBX. And please stop with the constant insertion of the helpme tag or your page will be protected. --Pilot|guy 21:52, 18 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Protection

[edit]

How do I protect my User Talk/Page with the same thing Tony Fox protected his with? PS: This will be the last use of {{helpme}} I promise.

It's fine. You can use helpme as much as you want. In response to your question, it must be done by an administrator, and the only reason why it would be done is if someone has been vandalising a page. The idea is to keep the vandal from being able to vandalise the page. Generally, User talk pages are not protected, as it keeps people from saying anything to the user. GofG ||| Contribs 22:30, 18 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please protect my page please I don't want to take a chance of a vandal coming PS: PilotGuy said that I may not use {{helpme}} anymore

Unfortunetly, we aren't allowed to do that unless there has already been vandalism. And besides, it is very easy to revert a user page back to it's original state. You can do it without having to press the mouse button more than 5 times. GofG ||| Contribs 22:35, 18 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
In response to Pilotguy's comments, the only reason he does not like you using Helpme is because, as you are no doubt aware, there is suspicion that you are a sockpuppet of User:Bugman94. GofG ||| Contribs 22:38, 18 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It's really not a good idea to remove tags from other userpages, especially warnings and block notices and things. I've just reverted your removal of the tags from User:Bugman94's page. Highly recommended you avoid doing that kind of thing again... Tony Fox (speak) 22:44, 18 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
