Hi

[edit]

Could you please stop creating implausible redirects en masse? Thanks. Chrissymad ❯❯❯ ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 20:23, 1 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Needless redirects

[edit]

You know, these redirects you've been creating are completely unnecessary. If a user searches for a page and slightly misspells the name of the subject they're looking for (such as Dorra the Explorer instead of Dora the Explorer), Wikipedia's search mechanism will very likely figure offer the correct page as one of its top options in the search result. Your creations don't appear particularly disruptive, but they are also not particularly helpful. Can I ask why you feel the need to create them? [edit]

Please stop making disruptive edits.

If you continue to disrupt Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing. Please stop creating needless redirects. As others have pointed out, the system automatically redirects people if they type in a common misspelling of these articles. If you continue creating these re-directs without explanation you will be at risk of being blocked. Thanks. SouthernNights (talk) 21:01, 1 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 31 hours for persistently making disruptive edits. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may request an unblock by first reading the guide to appealing blocks, then adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  RickinBaltimore (talk) 21:22, 1 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I had stopped editing and had realised my mistake. I was not aware of the policy of implausible redirects, and once made aware I stopped. As far as I know I did not re-make any redirects, unless my account has been hacked or something. Feel free to delete my redirects, but I did not mean to be disruptive. Please unblock me. (If I have gotten it wrong I am sorry.) Spybird (talk) 21:28, 1 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Accept reason:

Revewing the edits below and re-examining the block log, I'll go ahead and unblock. RickinBaltimore (talk) 21:52, 1 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

(edit conflict) I'm not sure why this escalated to the point of a block. My comment was made to this user at 20:36, and their last edit (other than this page) was at 19:56. The offending behavior had stopped before SouthernNights' warning, before they were reported at WP:AIV, and before the block. Once the user's behavior had stopped, applying a block seems superfluous. I agree. No need for a block here since the editor stopped these edits after being warned.--SouthernNights (talk) 22:01, 1 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
