WP:COI

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Spaceguy5. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Descent_propulsion_system, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you.

I'm aware that you have admitted professional COI to a company in this industry on an external non-wiki chat service and on the talk page of another Wikipedia article. You need to let other editors know before contributing to an article were you have a COI. Please see WP:DISCLOSE.

While I do work for NASA which is a government agency in the aerospace sector, I do not work for Northrop Grumman (the company that designed the DPS) nor do I work for SpaceX nor a competitor to either of the two companies involved with my edit. NASA is not a competitor for either company, and in fact there are regulations in place such that NASA has to treat all companies that contract with NASA fairly and equally. My edit was in no way a COI, but rather a minor correction to help tidy up the page, because pintle injectors are a very commonly used component of rocket engines. Listing that DPS used a pintle injector and comparing it to the Merlin engine also using a pintle injector is as useful as saying on the P-51 fighter page that the P-51 uses a propeller, similar to the FW-190 fighter plane.
