Help with user edit warring on airport articles
- Mariiovalera (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)
- Tirana International Airport Nënë Tereza (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Hi, I see you have been dealing with user Mariiovalera recently, they are back to their usual bad conduct on airport articles: [1]. I have already have them reported and blocked for edit warring in the past, but not sure what to do in the second instance. I could do the same but I would rather avoid this whole exercise again. Any advice? Ajf773 (talk) 08:44, 7 June 2020 (UTC)
- Yes Ajf773, I see from their talk page I warned them a week ago. It is not a user name I remember. Perhaps the admin who blocked them EdJohnston might cast their eye over their recent edits[2]? Mariiovalera has been editing long enough to know about edit warning and has been reminded recently about using edit summaries as well. Best wishes.SovalValtos (talk) 09:41, 7 June 2020 (UTC)
- Hello SovalValtos and User:Ajf773. I checked one recent edit by User:Mariiovalera at Tirana International Airport Nënë Tereza and it seemed to be correctly sourced. (Though I only checked one of the many dates). If you think you see an example of a bad edit which doesn't meet the rules of WP:AIRPORT-CONTENT, can you leave a post on the article talk page, pointing to the source he used, and verifying that it doesn't contain the right information? At that point you could ask Mariio to explain his edit or to self-revert. If he doesn't do so then an admin might be able to take some action. Thanks, EdJohnston (talk) 18:49, 7 June 2020 (UTC)
- Hi @EdJohnston:. I have been watching this article and this user for some time. There are the odd occasion where the user will correctly source content but in this case all the content I removed was cross checked, they didn't like it and have been furiously reverting. I have posted on the article talk, to little avail. I also posted a level 4 warning on Mariiovalera's talk, which they have removed as claimed as an "empty threat". This user really doesn't take things seriously enough, even after one blocking. Ajf773 (talk) 21:46, 7 June 2020 (UTC)
- Can you supply a diff to show me an edit by Mariiovalera that you believe is not properly sourced? I am guessing you may refer to this edit by Mariio. But if you are, which of the many flight changes do you believe is unsourced? Are you saying that routesonline.com can't be a proper source? If so has this been discussed anywhere? Thanks, EdJohnston (talk) 02:11, 8 June 2020 (UTC)
- I used this as an example in the the article talk. The dates don't match up, Routesonline (which is generally ok as a source) shows a start date of 20 March this year. It is quite obvious that it was defered due to Covid-19, but a new source should be provided with the revised date of 15 June. Ajf773 (talk) 02:51, 8 June 2020 (UTC)

- Hello User:SovalValtos and User:Ajf773. I'm having a discussion at User talk:Mariiovalera#Long term pattern of making unsourced changes. Since I'm only acting as an admin, I have no knowledge of the actual issues that the airport project may have. Can you add your own views at Mariiovalera's talk page? Whatever the sourcing standards are that are used by the airport project, it is desirable that Mariio should be able to conform to them. (Or if not, he should agree to negotiate some other plan). Thanks, EdJohnston (talk) 21:41, 10 June 2020 (UTC)
- I will post EdJohnston but not immediately.SovalValtos (talk) 22:38, 10 June 2020 (UTC)

Geohack
Thanks for letting me now about the region problem, I will make a point of ensuring it is in the cooordinates on pages I’m working on. It works on the mills because the OS template automatically inserts it. NB, I tried it out on Meldon Viaduct to confirm it works. Murgatroyd49 (talk) 10:52, 29 June 2020 (UTC)
45699 article
It has come to my attention that edits which I undertook on the article for 45699 Galatea have been continuously returned to their pre edited states with out of date photographs taken over 7 years ago. The photos of the engine dressed up as 45562 Alberta are very recent shots being taken back in February this year and the information included was recent too with references given. The article either needs to be kept upto date or closed up completely. User:82.132.186.181 22:34, 18 July 2020 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A00:23C5:FC98:DB00:86:A54A:16F6:58B6 (talk)

Thame edits by MovingScenes
Hello SovalValtos, firstly thank you for the Welcome, although I've actually been an editor for, oh heck it's over 15 years!
Anyway, there is no conflict of interest in my edit to Thame, since I have no commercial or employment within the town - the theatre is run entirely by unpaid staff. But thank you for your comments, it's always good to be reminded of these things.
MovingScenes (talk) 09:42, 31 July 2020 (UTC)
- You will excuse me for thinking that you were a newish editor as the contribution record for MovingScenes only started in September 2019. Have you been editing under another user name? [[WP:COI] is not as simple as having 'no commercial or employment within the town'. In 15 years+ things may have changed from your then understanding. In particular "If you have a personal connection to a topic or person, you are advised to refrain from editing those articles directly".SovalValtos (talk) 11:03, 31 July 2020 (UTC)

- User:Emma.brenley.123 I think you may benefit from learning a bit more about Wikipedia before making further edits that are likely to be reverted. I am placing a welcome message on your talk page. Please spend time following the links that should help you understand the difference between an encyclopedia and social media and the need for verifiability WP:V from WP:RS. Please sign your edits on talk pages with <nowikiEmma.brenley.123 (talk)>~</nowiki> and remember to sign in. Best wishes.SovalValtos (talk) 16:09, 17 August 2020 (UTC)
- I have spent the last hour doing more research so Thank You for the help. Please put my changes back as you archived them I think. I just dont want the not true or old information on here because I am a voulenteer on the KWVR and want people to be well informed . --Emma.brenley.123 (talk) 16:47, 17 August 2020 (UTC)
- Emma.brenley.123 I have seen you are are very new editor. I have tried to help you by putting some useful links on your talk page. If you don't try to take on board the advice given there there is likely little I can do further to help. To save frustration please consider stepping back for a day or two whilst you read the links you have been given. If you wish to comment further about the Rolling stock of the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway article please use its talk page [3] rather than here.SovalValtos (talk) 21:08, 17 August 2020 (UTC)
