Hello SotoRoto. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to REE Automotive, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:SotoRoto. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=SotoRoto|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. MarioGom (talk) 10:08, 27 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@MarioGom: Could you explain in in a non-templated message why you think SotoRoto is a paid editor? Based on this thread on my talk page, I get the impression that SotoRoto is a good-faith editor who is interested in creating an article that has been the subject of UPE in the past. Moreover, they have not actually edited REE Automotive—given that it is salted—but have rather created Draft:REE Automotive and followed our guidelines by submitting it through AfC. – Lord Bolingbroke (talk) 23:49, 27 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Lord Bolingbroke, sure. Behavior here is very common among UPE editors:
  • REE Automotive has been a UPE target with 5 previous creations.
  • The new draft is created with similar content, press releases and poor sources common among spam articles. Obviously as a draft since the article is salted. Usage of AfC is not uncommon in UPE, as you probably know already.
  • Monday to Friday timecard is also a common sign, although the schedule spread is certainly wide.
  • There are some other similarities to accounts from a large UPE sockfarm.
None of this proves UPE (hence the template wording), but is overall highly suggestive. Best, MarioGom (talk) 06:45, 28 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hello MarioGom - I was not aware there were five previous attempts to make a page for this company. As an attempt to just try and publish a page on Wikipedia, I made a short page for that company's CEO, Daniel Barel. MrsSnoozyTurtle reviewed the page I published, and suggested I make a company page instead, but she was unable to change the name because it was protected. With the kind assistance of Lord Bolingbroke, I submitted an REE Automotive page through the Articles for Creation process, as to ensure the page I made met Wikipedia's guidelines. I would disagree with your assessment of the quality of sourcing (I also don't believe I used any press releases, as I know they are not considered quality - if I did, it was uninentional), but it appears you have quite a lot of experience on Wikipedia, and as I've done with the aforementioned, more experienced editors, I will defer to your decisions and suggestions. I do not know how to see the citations of a deleted page, so I'm not sure how to find out if the ones I used were previously rejected.
I apologize if I have given the impression of being a paid editor or a "black hat" or "sockfarm". I don't work for any of the company pages I've worked on to date (or in this case, created), and if there is something I edited incorrectly that gave this impression, please inform me and I will correct it (or remove it, if you request).
You also mentioned editing Monday to Friday as being a concern; I am an umpire in local baseball leagues on the weekend this time of year, so I'm not on my computer on those days. I would be happy to do weekend editing when I'm available during other times of year, if that is something that is required. If there are other standards I should be following that I am not with my contributions, please let me know, so I'm not raising concerns with other editors of your stature.
As stated in your warning message, I will refrain from editing entirely until I've been advised on how to proceed by any editors involved in this process. Thank you all for your time. SotoRoto (talk) 01:34, 29 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Is anyone going to respond to me? It has been over a month since I was told to stop editing Wikipedia, but I've received no help or had permission to edit reinstated. Can Lord Bolingbroke or anyone else help resolve this situation? I would like to continue contributing, if I'm allowed.SotoRoto (talk) 19:24, 3 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
You have responded to MarioGom saying you are not a paid editor and you are doing the right thing by vetting your draft through AfC, so you are perfectly welcome to continue editing. – Lord Bolingbroke (talk) 21:19, 3 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed. SotoRoto, I'm sorry for the inconvenience. Happy editing! MarioGom (talk) 21:47, 3 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
