Previous page

[edit]

Previous page was at wikipedia.org/Sword_of_the_Spirit.

It was marked as not notable because it didn't contain any reliable sources.
All sources were from swordofthespirit.net, and that doesn't prove anything about anything.
So it was deleted

[edit]

There was a mission section in the article taken from the paragraph about the goals of SoS from http://www.swordofthespirit.net/aboutus.html Someone marked it as violation of copyright. Apparently, all pages on swordofthespirit.net are marked copyright (c) The Sword of the Spirit. Does that mean we can't use that info in this article ? If that's the case can we and how do we acquire right for the info. --JB (talk) 15:59, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it means we can't use it.
If you find the owner and they want to give Wikipedia permission to use the text, we need them to verify with the Foundation that they are the real copyright holder and understand the legal implications of putting their copyrighted work on Wikipedia.
If they still wish to grant Wikipedia the rights to this material, they need to follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Requesting_copyright_permission#For_text. It has all the info they need. Then, they'll be granted what's called "an OTRS ticket" that shows Wikipedia has been granted the rights to the text and then they can post the material verbatim without violating copyright.
We don't accept copyrighted work outside of that process in order to protect the holders of copyright, both from others posting their words on Wikipedia, and from unknowingly signing away their rights.
I hope you understand that refusing all copyrighted work until we have real evidence that it's been released into the GDFL is the best way to make sure we aren't violating anyone's rights.
I hope this helps. Toddst1 (talk) 16:09, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Those big reports

[edit]

I'm sure SoS coordinators have those big reports that'll get us all that is needed for the article without bashing our head for references. Someone should his hands on one of those. --JB (talk) 15:59, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'd focus on trying to find reliable sources from third verifiable third parties. Right now, WP:Notability is asserted, but not established, which could make it vulnerable to WP:AFD. Toddst1 (talk) 16:12, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The main issue

[edit]

As Toddst1 said in the above paragraph, the main issue is to find reliable sources. If we don't, the page might be deleted.
I couldn't seem to find any reliable sources on the web. All I could get is from swordofthespirit.net and that site is not authenticated anywhere. So we might as well be lying about everything in this page.
Whether on the internet or not, we have to get some reliable source for this thing

To-do list

[edit]
  • See about the copyright
  • Get more references, from various sites, books, reports... and as it says at the top of the article, some that are not associated directly with the subject, to have more reliable sources.
  • Expand the artcile
    • More in History section
    • Hierarchy in SoS and current staff
    • Expansion of SoS
    • Servants of the Word
    • And I'm sure, lots more can be added
